As I said before, were I the one who witnessed what McQueary did, there'd have been a DEAD OLD MAN for the police to come put a toe tag on. I witnessed a guy smack a girl in a bar one night, the second smack landed him FLAT ON HIS ASS, with what looked to be a dislocated shoulder. No, I didn't report that crime, I just became the judge and jury and punisher..... :tu: Again, McQUEARY is the guy that REALLY should be taking the BIG HIT here. Not only did he not stop the rape of a child, but he failed to call the police and protect that child from that filthy disgusting old bastard!!! McQueary's lack of action, or lack thereof, would make me wonder if he wasn't telling some sort of crazy story, rather than believe what he reported!!! I believe JoePA probably wasn't sure what the hell to believe therefore, he passed it on to his superiors to sort out, whether it should have been reported by JoePA, secondhand, to the police from a legal standpoint is beyond me, but I can see where he may have had doubts just because of the lack of action on McQueary's part though.

No, can't imagine not reporting a serious crime.

Uh, no. Guess I don't. When one of your coaching staff comes to you visibly shaken claiming to have just witnessed a fellow coach-- and heir apparent to the head coach-- raping a 10 year old in the team locker room, that's a bit beyond the rumor mill of the local beauty salon. [IMG]

The thing is, from what is being reported, Joe was never told of a rape, he was told of inappropriate contact and horsing around.....if that is true...that makes a big difference in what actions Joe should have taken. Hindsight is always 20/20 and its easy to say what you would have done years later when all the info came out....There is a bunch of stuff that needs to come out before I can form an accurate opinion.

I see what you're getting at, but I think you already know where I stand on it. I am glad to see that they finally put McQueary on "leave," but I still think HE (McQueary) is the one who should be being held accountable. And as far as I'm concerned he's the BIGGEST enabler for not KILLING Sandusky when he allegedly witnessed the rape. Again, he's the guy that I'd have the big questions for, after I was done castrating Sandusky without the aid of any cauterization to stop the bleeding.

So McQueary...and the Athletic Director...and the President knew what happend...but the Head Football doesn't know?? Paterno is the one who notified the higher ups of the incident.

BTW...Sandusky was also investigated several years earlier in 1998 by University Police for inappropriate contact with a child in the showers in the locker room...so this wasn't the first time the knew something was up with this guy

    He said, she said.

This is one of those things where we can talk ALL DAY LONG about what WE WOULD DO, but the pressure isnt on us.

50 year old man + 10 year old boy + shower + inappropriate touching = more than enough info to take action
