What I am saying is JoePa wasn't the one allowing him access -- the university was. It was in his retirement settlement not some office talks between JoePa and Sandusky. This was a contractual agreement conferred upon by university officials. It didn't have JoePa's signature on it. That's all I'm saying -- JoePa totally could have done more to help his situation, he didn't, that's why he is in question today. I'm not here to argue Hook, sorry if it seems so.
But they're professing that they had to fire Joe PA because of inaction and they did it before investigating it fully themselves. If they find later that the coaching staff knew, which I'm 100% convinced of, keeping them for the rest of the season would have been the same as keeping Joe. Bottom line, keeping the staff isn't the "right thing to do" as they profess they want to do, it's the right monetary decision and that's all it comes down to in their minds.
Joe is the biggest figure in this case. He had to go, immediately. The longer he was there, the worse the media frenzy was going to be. At this point, the public doesn't know if any of the other coaches knew (besides McQueary). They are making their decisions based on what the public knows. Just like they have all along. Even if the rest of the coaching staff (besides McQueary) didn't know, they still need to start clean. The other option is removing the entire staff and cancelling the rest of the season. I can see the arguments on both sides of that.
The weird thing is Sandusky wasn't forced out in 1999. He retired willingly because JoePa informed him he wasn't going to be his successor as head coach at Penn State. Now, it seems we can all see through and understand this was the public way to explain it and the real reason was likely because of the 1998 investigation.
If it were up to me, and I was claiming to want to restore the "Penn State way" or the dignity, there'd be no compromising. I'd fire the staff, hire a temp and do the best I could with what I had.
At this point, part of the problem is the decision makers knew too. There is no way the board of trustees didn't know. Everyone needs to be removed in order for sound decisions to be made.
Absolutely. It's a rough situation that we'll never know the true depth of. Everyone will try to save themselves to the very end.
punishment for Sandusky?..... You know when you are dressing a deer and you cut the nuts off?.... This
"Mike McQueary, a key figure in the child sex scandal rocking Penn State, won’t serve as an assistant coach for the Nittany Lions tomorrow because of “multiple threats” that have been made against him, the school said last night."
So let me ask you guys this, Have any of you guys ever known about an unreported serious crime? And not reported it? Or is this one of those, "im the righteous behind the keyboard", situations?
Former Penn State players are donating money for Sandusky's defense???!!! Why would anyone support this piece of human garbage???!!! http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7220097/penn-state-nittany-lions-rally-program
Are you asking if I have ever witnessed a grown man sodomizing a 10 year old boy and not reported it? The answer is no.
