The water cooler just doesn't get as much activity. Currently there are 4 viewing this section, vs 50 viewing bowhunting talk. Perhaps its due to the misfits that hang around down here.

But I get where you are coming from PT. A broadhead or fawn thread gets a minimum of 6 pages in a matter of hours, but we are all bowhunters. That is a bowhunting topic. I know this is getting more coverage than most sports related stories, but there are plenty of guys here that are not sports fans. I don't think they realize the magnitude of this situation, or many of the details of it.

To me, there is not much worse than sexual abusing a child, if any. It absolutely disgusts and infuriates me.

I think it's because there is nothing to debate here...any sane human being would feel this is a horrific and tragic ordeal that happened to these kids.

Whereas the other type of threads bowhunting that you are referring to often have disagreements of opinion which creates the many posts you are referring to.

You would be shocked at the amount of people who try to claim that JoePa and McCreary did all they could do and don't deserve any criticism.

Unfortunately that is SO true. Especially around here where brainwashed PSU grads are all over the place. It sickens me.

The people showing support outside Paterno's home, and on campus, is proof of that.

We don't know all the details yet. Joe could have been told by the AD and/or VP that they would contact the police and handle this. BUT, when nothing was done, Joe had the chance to do more. Including banning Sandusky from the campus. Joe had a lot of power and it could have been used to help stop this.

McQueary...he b!tched out to put it simply.

Personally I feel bad for the Guy. No one will know if Joepa actually knew what as going on. His staff could have kept it from him because they didn't want to lose any personnel. Its terrible that this is the way he has to leave (announced he is going to retire) but i hope that he will be known as a great coach and a person who changed a great university rather than the guy who didn't report what was going on.

Its already public information that he knew of at least one shower raping. We don't yet know the extent of how many he knew about, but one is too many.

He isn't the biggest person to blame here, but he certainly should get his share.

Joe-PA will be done after this season. A legend will be gone. As for this situation, I still believe there is more to this than we are hearing and I think we should just castrate Sandusky after a nice large dose of blood thinners and let him bleed to death.

I still can't imagine seeing a man raping a kid and not doing anything about it though..... This strikes me as very odd!!! Not going to the police, not stopping it, not doing anything except calling your daddy and then going and meeting with Joe PA to discuss it??? Something ain't adding up to me!!!

I've heard that too and honestly I feel like there are ugly situations that can be made fun of in this way and then there are ugly situations that we should just feel saddened to be fellow humans of the people that were involved.

my grandmother wanted me to make her proud and play LB for Penn State growing up. as junior in HS i was already a preferred walk-on and my senior yr would determine whether i'd get a scholarship or not... first game of my senior year i broke my tibia and fibula in the 4th quarter. next day Penn State said they weren't gonna offer me. some things happen for a reason

i can truly say im shocked and embarrassed to be a nittany lion fan. people knew and didnt stop it?????? bury the guy (sandusky)under the jail! sick

as far as joepa, if he knew then shame on one of the guys i looked up to in football

I'm not gonna hold Joe PA any MORE responsible or any LESS responsible than anyone else that knew and didn't do more.

While I agree he was immorally wrong for not investigating it further..... I'm a little confused on what grounds the school has to fire him given he technically did exactly what he was supposed to legally.

Such a terrible situation, and the sad part is ESPN is treating this as if the entire story is about Paterno, not the Monster Sandusky and all the little boys he raped.

He was legally required to report it to AUTHORITIES ... not his boss .... as a teacher, he is a mandated reporter .... he should be prosecuted .... and I hope he is and spends the rest of his pitiful life in prison ...

If this is the case, so should his entire staff minus I think one guy who showed up 4 years ago. The sideline should be empty this Saturday.

Paterno was the biggest name still employed, and one of the biggest names in college sports, ever. Now that he is out, I think you will see the coverage shift. One of the next targets will probably be McQueary. How he still has a job is beyond me.

This will get a lot worse before it gets better. Even the board of trustees are full of it. For them to sit there like they just found out about this is a complete lie. Here is an article written last April. Notice the flaming comments toward the author from back in the spring.
