Is it wrong to give the "outsiders" different candy for Halloween?

WOW I cant believe anyone would call Hooker cheap for spending $150 on candy for kids. We give the same for kids we do not know no matter how they are dressed and what they say but there are a few kids on our street that are friends with our two kids that get a special bag my wife makes up. This is probably only about a half dozen kids.

Pssstt.. I don't really think he's being cheap if he's dropping that much on candy....but I would feel remiss in my duties as a cranky old woman to not give him crap. I mean he eats 'deconstructed' food and thinks burlap shoes are fashionable.

It's almost like Minnesota folks talking about spicy food. :p

At how much candy you're dishing out, I'm surprised you can even keep up! At 20 a bag of 250, thats almost 2000 pieces of candy. I'd be conserving too.

You could always pretend to give candy - you know, take a piece of candy out of your bowl and dip your hand down inside the kids bag and pretend to let it go in their bag. Kids won't know the difference..:tu:.

    I'm kidding of course

I agree with Hooker. When I lived on post at Ft Campbell, we gave out the good stuff to all the kids dressed up and being polite. We had some teenagers come to the house with walmart bags and no costumes and just stood their so my (now ex) wife didn't give them anything so they kicked up the leaf piles and knocked the trash can over. They really didn't like it when I followed them and spoke to their father (a Colonel) who made them go back and rake my yard and pick up the trash.

On another note, does John Galt ever have anything useful to say other than being a troll on here and nasty with his odd statements?

We usually never get kids that we don't know when they stop over trick or treating. I don't hand them the candy. I let them dig in and take what they want.

Our new street alone has over 50 children living on it. I spent a butt load of money of candy for them. Years ago when we lived in town, the teens knew who gave out good candy and who didn't and would egg houses of people who pretended not to be home or didn't give them candy. Since we refused to give candy out to teenagers walking around with bags looking for freebies, our house was under consideration for an omelette makeover but my son, who went to school with them, intercepted them with the paintball gun when they showed up. Never got egged and the teens didn't come back the following year.

    I'll take your bet! :D

I bought 5 bags of candy bars and today I found out that there really isn't door to door trick or treating in this town. :( They do something called 'Trunk or treat'. That's where folks park at the church parking lot and kids go from car to car to get candy that is handed out from the trunk. I'd never heard of this before. Soooo.... I guess no rugrats ringing door bells for me, yet again.

I'm not going to drive to the church to hand out the candy bars because I'd feel like a total creeper handing out candy from a vehicle. heh heh, hey kiddies! Want some candy? heh heh heh .....

So now I have a bunch of unloved candy bars. (I can't do sugar) Maybe I should send them to Hooker.

I ask for their ID to verify they are of proper age and residence. If they are not of proper age or residence or do not have valid identification then I pour precisely 1 Tic-Tac into their hand and send them on their way feeling good about myself.

Realistically I've NEVER put that much thought into Trick or Treating. Doorbell rings, open door, hand out candy..good candy. If I see the neighbors & their kids I just hold the bowl in front of em and say take all you want, they usually don't take too much(their good kids).

It rained for trick or treat tonight I didn't get to decorate my yard and we did have some kids but not as many as normal. I gave everyone dressed up or not a handful.
