Is it wrong to give the "outsiders" different candy for Halloween?

You don't have to buy costumes. I don't think I have ever bought a costume in my life. A little creativity goes a long ways. And no, I assure you that 99.9% of children know that correct mannerisms for Halloween. They know "trick or treat!"

And me giving a kid another mini Snickers is not going to keep them from starving.

Not knocking you here but how hard is it to come up with a Halloween costume with stuff laying around the house...we did it for years as kids....not only was it free it was fun....I think its more about the older kids that show up with no costume just wanting free candy that sticks a thorn in peoples sides

You don't always have to buy costumes. Most of mine I took from around the house and made something. Did we have money to buy one? Yes, but my family enjoyed making some together. So costumes can be done with out a lot of money, the problem is people are just lazy and want things handed to them!

All I am saying is if you walked in those kids shoes that might be all you wore too.

I know some kids abuse it, but some kids are going through one hell of a time. I don't think a costume or a couple of words can always tell the story.

The parents could be lazy, but I think it is early to judge kids.

Well feel free to step up and slap that "free skittles look" right outta those kids, and get on to the next one that meets your higher standards.

Ungratfull bastards any ways, moms car likely has an acorn bumpersticker.

How is this even controversial? It is ones right to give whatever candy he wants to kids. With a little creativity anyone can make some type of costume and all kids over 3yo know how to say trick or treat. If a rude 11 year old walks up and opens a bag without even trying to be polite, he will leave my yard disappointed whereas a polite 5 year old will probably get the better choice of what I have to offer.

Getting kind of deep on us today. It's trick or treating and the crumb snatchers need to put forth a little effort get a better reward then the kids that put forth no effort. You can spin it either way about being fair but I paid for the candy, I distribute it the way I feel is appropriate.

They definitely truck them in from the 'hood to my street.

The best was a group of 4 kids from the hood, w/ mama standing on the bottom step yelling "Take one piece each!" Once the kids had gotten theirs, she stepped up to the door, said "I'm trick-or-treating for my baby at home" and she proceeded to grab an entire handful of candy.

Those kids all get the Whoppers.

What the hell does this have to do with Trick or treating. Kids dressed up in a costume took the time and the energy to celebrate Halloween in my eyes they should get a bigger reward then some kid walking around in the cloths he went to school in and holding his bag open not saying trick or treat or thank you.

Kid knocks on door, I open door, I give candy to kid w/o over analyzing said kids costume. Pretty seamless process.

I just shut the lights off, lock the door and watch halloween movies....
This way I'm not presented with such decisions.

You talk like smarties are a punishment...they are my favorite! If I show up to your house, not dressed up, not say a word and hold out my pillow case, will you give me some smarties?
