I would start with a mineral site, you will draw in more deer with mineral this time of the year.

Preseason scouting is starting to come to an end. Best time to scout is before green up, all fall sign is still there to read.

    Too early for mock scrapes...
If you're in heat for deer season, go plant some warm season food plots. I think folks put too much emphasis on cool season kill plots anyway. Mineral sites are a good suggestion but are easy and a few go a long ways. Food plotting is a great way to scratch the itch.

I think I'm going to scratch the itch by watching BHOD but every time it just makes it worse...

It's never too early to start thinking about mock scrapes, maybe not worth the effort to put scent in them though. Now is a great time to pull over hanging branches down and tie them into position in places you plan to put one. Heck, pull the branches down to where you want them, clean out the 'scrape' and urinate in it all would be good this time of year. Just putting expensive deer scents in them would likely be a waste of time and money.
