This is my second season bow hunting , the season here starts sept. 15. My question is , is it to early to use doe urine and estrus bleats to attract bucks. Also is it ever to early to use rattling antlers and grunt calls. Can they scare away the doe? I seem to need something to get some movement out of them as i can only see clearly about 30 40 yrds in the dense Newengland woods. Last night it was windy in the stand for 2 hours with no action, so I climbed down and 3 white tails went running off. Like they appeared out of thin air right were i was looking. I have alot to learn.

I would only use a food attractant and I would only grunt when you see them and they don't see you. As far as rattling I haven't done much but I've read that just tickling this time of year may work.

Try Vanilla Extract, I heard its the sh$t. I would not rattle this early, because it will scare the doe's away. They are mostly still with thier fawns and they tend to avoid other deer while with their youngings. Decoy's will most likely scare doe's too.

Only scents I would use this early is Bowhunters Set-Up..... Its more of a curiosity scent.. I spray down with scent killer and then use Bowhunter Set-Up or Bowhunters Fatal Obsession on my boots to leave slight scent on the ground.. If I call, I would use the can, or a fawn bleat..

Now, in the afternoon's while I am walking in, I ALWAYS USE A TURKEY CALL......... As I walk, I will Putt, Putt, Putt.. and maybe a cackle... The sound of me walking through leaves and Putting sounds like a flock of turkeys scratching in the woods.. Can not tell you how many times, I have been walking into my stand and litterally walked face to face with a deer on the same trail !!!!!!!!!! They hear them turkeys all year long.. Kinda gives them a feeling that everything is normal and if there are turkeys over there, then all must be safe... Just be ready to shoot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

I started doing that this year after a friend recommended it. Just got a simple raspy diaphragm and practiced before I walked in yesterday for the first time with it.

I'll try that “TURKEY CALL” this year. I've never thought of it before, but then again I'm a Ninja master and use my stealth skills and mystical nature to float across the forest floor with about be detected, kind of like a spider monkey.
