Or hunters in general that are so competitive?

Look at the thread starters, Who's gonna shoot the biggest Doe, the first buck, the oldest buck and how long will you not shoot a buck?

    Seems we're a competitive bunch.

i only compete with myself when hunting... I'm certainly a touch jealous of others baggin such nice bucks, but they worked hard and earned it (most of the time)... one day i'll get mine... for the most part I don't think its competitive so much as it is admiration for those that have succeeded...

Not sure if it's so much about competitiveness as much as boredom.

But man by his nature is competitive, look at the myriad of sporting events and everything else that can be turned into a contest.

And some also seem to be a "know It all" bunch as well. I've seen gun hunters like this too I guess. I'd say It's an Internet thing possibly. None of the guys I bow hunt with are at all like this (competitive to one another). We all learn from each other and make the best of It with open ears.

Steve thats the way my friends are, one's success is all of our success. I get the idea to some that hunting is like a video game with every one trying to reach that next level.
It appears that for to many the hunts more for atta boys than for their own personal satisfaction and appreciation of the taking of a fine animal.

I took the threads more of boredom then anything else. I could be wrong though.

There are some judgmental people out there, feeling the need to down other hunters and their motivations. I remember playing sports and wanting to compete so bad for my team, myself, and to be honest...some "atta boys". Hunting is no different for a lot of people in that regard.

I think it's just a reflection of the fact that it's the off season and everyone has no other focus.

I agree with KodiakArcher, we're in the offseason and trying to scratch the itch anyway we can.

I think people in general are very competitive, you could take my dad as an example, sometimes I hate hunting with him because he's notorious for "one upping" you. How many of you reading this post are saying "Oh yeah, I know someone like that..."?
There are so any people like that out there.

While I do agree there are a ridiculous amount of "who will shoot the best..." threads on this site, I think it is all in good fun. The people on this site (for the most part) seem genuinely friendly towards each other. This site itself seems more "buddy" oriented which is great if you're looking to ham it up and take some friendly jabs at each other.
So far I haven't come across a thread where people got seriously bent out of shape over someones opinion like other notoriously nasty sites (which shall remain unnamed).

    Just my 2 cents.

    ~ Carrie

P.S. if you think men are competitive...you haven't hung around enough women...I know some girls who bring it to the next level!

I think a lot of it is just in good fun,not necessarily coming from a competetive mind set.A little busting between our friends here.
Like Jim has mentioned some of my most memorable moments have come as a result of good friends successes.I have no desire to one up any one,I want every one to do well.
