Im talking about Jimmie Johnson of course. One secret you guys may not know about me is my support of Jeff Gordon. Ive been a fan of his just as long as ive been a Packers fan.

Ive always thought he was the "Joe Montana" of NASCAR. Richard Petty can be Johnny U for all i care, Jeff is the GOAT. He was amazing. 4 championships, all in dominating fashion, in a short stretch during the late 90's.

Then Jimmie Johnson came along. Same team, which Jeff owns, and hes about to win his 4th straight championship. Thats unbelievable. Especially in a sport where so much hinges on what the other idiot drivers do.

The only thing that makes me feel Jeff has an edge, is the fact that he would have won 2 of those championships Jimmie won had they still been racing in the old format which he won his 4 championships in. The chase for the cup sucks, and everyone knows it.

    Any NASCAR junkies out there?

I like the chase. It's just like the playoffs in any other sport. The best drivers and teams throughout the year make it in the chase. To me it adds some more action to the race. I used to be a #24 guy, but a couple years before Jimmie won his first title I began to follow the 48 pretty close. If either one of them win a race it's fine with me, but I just enjoy watching Johnson give everyone a lesson out there.

4 straight championships is great, but he has to give a lot of credit to Chad Knaus. What he can do with that car is unreal.

I used to be a NASCAR junkie when there was actual drivers driving it. Not these Hollywood types who couldn't change the oil of the drivers before them.

I grew up in perhaps the greatest period of drivers ever.. when Bill Elliot.. Dale Earnhardt.. Alan Kulwicki.. Harry Gant.. Cale Yarbrough once raced.

They were good ole' boys who built the engines in family garages and still toppled the 200 mark.

Those boys were fun to watch back when it was still the Winston Cup.

These new guys with exception to very very few can't hold a candle to those drivers and those days.

    Teammates? What are those?:D

I can get behind this... I pretty much stopped watching nascar in about 02... now days it is not much different than friggin IROC... the racing is crap... the real talent these days in auto racing is in World Rally Championship racing... and I prefer watching bikes over all of 'em...

I was going to say the about same thing. Jimmie is without a doubt a very talented driver however, Chad Knaus and the rest of the crew deserve just as much or perhaps more credit. There have been a lot of races won by Chad's quick (and brilliant) decisions and the crews fast pit stops.

With that being said, I'm a Jr. fan but...Well, he's not having a very good year abviously...:D

When the chase started I was torn as to who I would like to see win it.

Jimmie Johnson - First to win four straight
Mark Martin - The old man is just so deserving
Tony Stewart - First owner/driver in many years

Wouldn't "Does he have the fastest car?" be a better question?

well, now Danica Patrick enters nascar for the upcoming season....

HAHAHAHA... yet another reason to believe that NASCAR is for those who don't understand the intricacies of the WWF...

Jeff owns 50% of Jimmie Johnsons car, with the other 50% being owned by Rick.

Nope. I quit watching when races started getting fixed and Nascar became nothing but the WWF. Add to the fact that Danica Patrick will be racing for Hendricks as soon as Martin retires and it just keeps getting better. It's nothing but marketing. I never dreamed I would ever say this, but the only true big time racing left is the IRL. I myself would rather go to the local dirt track and watch some real wheeling.

Agree. My Interest In Nascar has taking a big hit. I was a huge Rusty Wallace fan and a bunch of the other old schoolers (not Richard Petty though).

Jimmie the best ever? Not by a long shot Siman.... The whole Chase format is garbage. If you went with the points system that had been in place forever, Gordon would be going for #7. Jimmie would have NONE... The only thing he has accomplished is to have a crew chief that has figured out how to run great at 8 of the last 10 tracks. A racing champion should be based on a SEASON'S accomplishments, not just 10 races. Yes, I realize that you have to be in the Top 10, no wait.. 12, no wait... (it'll be 15 in a couple years, mark my words) in order to make the chase, but the whole reset of points is a crock. Its artificial. It really isn't earned.
You have to look at Petty, Earnhardt, Yarborough, JUNIOR Johnson, Gordon, DW, Buddy Baker, etc. etc. etc. ..... for the best of all time. Jimmie is good, but I don't see him in the top 10 of all time... yet
