The argument for baseaball players who were on juice, is that they were on juice when the drugs were not illegal. This does make sense, but the MLB should look at the bigger picture and see that they destroyed the whole game and all it's records.

To get to this Farve stuff, I also agree that most of us will forget what he did off the field for what he has done on the field. He built up too much of a legacy with fans all over the NFL, that nothing will really tarnish it. He will probably still be a 1st ballot HOFer.

Kobe Bryant cheated on his wife. He will make the Hall of Fame and go down as the 2nd best if not the GOAT.

Tiger Woods screwed up royally with his personal life, but will go down as a top 5 golfer all time (best IMO) and make hall of fame.

Pete Rose never bet against his own team and WILL make the HOF one day.

I think Favre will go down much the same way, people will see how big of an idiot/drama queen he is now, but he will still easily make HOF and be a top 5-10 QB all time.

I most certainly think HOF awards should be for on the field performances. HOF awards considering off the field ethics/merits makes about as much sense as ethics/merit awards or peace prizes considering athletic ability. These guys aren't doctors or humanitarians, they are athletes who play a sport, and should be viewed as such for their accomplishments.

This from my view point only.

When I think of Brett Favre, I think of a great quarterback, who in the end annoyed the heck out of me with his retirement antics, and eventually sent cell pictures of his wenis.

I think that stat would be extremely high. Take a look at the list of HOF players from '85 until present day. I know that a lot of those guys were voted in many years after they played, but on that list you will find players like Ozzie Smith, Tony Gwynn, and Cal Ripken, among others. Other than McGwire, Clemens, Bonds, Sosa, A-Rod and Palmerio, I really can't think of any other "HOF caliber" players that should be in (if just looking at stats), but won't get in (I'm sure I forgot to mention some in the there). Most of the juicers careers were cut too short, before they were able to compile HOF numbers, or they just weren't simply good enough even when they were roided up.

That is going to be a problem for players from the steroid era. Even if they weren't mentioned in the biggest waste of money ever, The Mitchell Report, they will still have that cloud of suspicion over them just because they played during a time where their peers were cheating.

And MLB may not like to admit it, but it was the steroid era that saved baseball, and brought fans back after the strike. Even casual fans were tuned in for the McGwire and Sosa run at the record in '98.

I think brett Favre is an absolute idiot and cant stand hearing about him in the media anyomore. If he left the game when he first retired I would look at him totally different and since then his true colors have shown. He is selfish and only cares about himself and his stats and still hasnt got over getting replaced by Rogers. This last remark of his is just another way for people to start talking about him again. IMO brett favre is one of the most over rated qbs ever to play.....

Well, which is it? Cause you can't really have both. Was he amazing and ended up selfish/dramatic in the end or was he over rated all along? Can't really have both...

I think Farve's deal was just to pad the Bank Accounts and Bail! He is still missed!

On the field Favre was one of the best to ever play the game. He deffinately should go in the hall of fame.

Off the field he was always sketchy. Now he just can't get out of his own way.

I wish he would have hung up his cleats as a Packer & left it at that, but he didn't. I don't like him as much as I used to. But it doesn't take anything away from what he did on the field, or how he carried the city of Green Bay on his back for a while.

I still haven't figured out why so many Packer fans hate Farve now?

Because he had the nerve to continue to play football after they didn't want him anymore...how dare him play somewhere else?

The guy wins a Superbowl a gives them 16 years and all that is forgotten?

Seems like the fans who feel that way are a bunch of ungratefull, spoiled babies if you ask me...

Not only did he lose alot of Packer fans backing....I think he turned off alot of non Packer fans by his actions and what he has said. Now the whole thing is a joke and everyone wants to know what he thinks.

Other than the 2 SBs (one win and one loss) in the late 90s, we were pretty much an average team with him. So, if you subtract the 2 years from the whole 16 years, you get 14 years of mediocracy. Favre was more of a drama queen than a consistant NFL QB. If he gets to the HOF, it will be for the few big moments he had during his career.

Still a pretty tuff person, IMO.....considering he had a few consecutive starts, that alone might make the HOF??

Favre's record with the Packers was 160-93...which means an "average" season with him was 10-6 record. That is your idea of mediocre? 3 MVPS and 9 Pro Bowls is mediocre too I suppose?

I seem to remember the Packers being a non factor in the NFL for two decades before he got there as they had made the playoffs once in the 80's and once in the 70's. Farve brought the Pack to the playoffs 11 times.

Funny how you would rarely ever hear this type of talk from Packer Fans when he was still wearing the Green and Gold? :busted:

It does matter, to me. If it doesnt to you, then you dont have to participate in the thread.

As far as Packers fans "changing there tune", i view it like this,

You always care for your girlfriend, until you break up. Same deal with Favre, bittersweet.

For the record, i will always be a supporter.
