I just saw that ESPN has named Tebow to the all era team. They havent named all the players yet, but they are only picking 20. I think they are really going over board on this. Their is no way they can say he is one of the best players in NFL history and can play in any era. I dont think he can play in this era, how can he play in any era?
I don't watch football on a regular basis but I think any one particular person being revered like a god over a sport; whether he can play or not, is taking it too far. I won't speak on his playing ability; but my guess is, he's being added because he is some kind of "legend" because of his story. Just my .02 though.
Peyton Manning is number 20 on the list and Tebow is number 19.This just shows how ridiculus this is.
Honestly... it was an interesting ride. BUT...he belongs on no team, no special whatever of anything unless it's spending time on his knees. There are so many who have done so much more and we call them average. He's below that. The only ERA he belongs on is Over Hyped Era.... and I like the guy.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7403681/no-19-broncos-qb-tim-tebow I may have to retract my statement. Check out what the men say about why they picked him. Not because he's an AMAZING quarterback, or the best quarterback; but because he's an athlete with heart who loves the game. "A 'W' is a 'W' and it doesn't matter how you get it. If you win ugly it's still a 'W'" -Floyd Little
Tebow has 10 career wins of games he started. Manning has won 10 or more games for 11 SEASONS! You should win more than a few games before you get put on a list of the best of the best.
What if Tebow was a RB, or a LB or an OT. Would you still care how many games he has "won"? The point of the NFL Any Era is that the players they choose could excel in any era. Not that they could be the starting QB of these 20 people and play against the Hall of Famers and win every single time. It's about who those 20 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame panel would want on their team or across the field from them. Go to that article and read what James Lofton said.
Its a completely irrelevant list to begin with. Its what people come up with when they are bored, and when ESPN has to find a way to squeeze in Tebow coverage during super bowl coverage. The next two weeks are some of the worst in ESPN's year. We have to hear the same stories repeated over and over. We have to hear about irrelevant side stories...and on, and on, and on. The game has changed way too much to figure out who could play in any area. Chances are they will just pick tough guys, when in reality, a guy like Peyton Manning would absolutely torch a 1950s defense. This list has zero relevance to football. They could put Tebow at #1 for all I care. He's already #1 in my heart.
I agree with Vito (except the Tebow #1 in my heart). These next two weeks are painful to listen to ESPN. I try not to watch much coverage until the weekend of the Super Bowl. As far as the era ranking thingy? A joke to begin with. A bigger joke that Tebow is in the top 1,876,398,023 on that list. How will he have an impact on his "era" when he's not a starting QB in 2 years and fades off into the sunset posting some of the worst stats in the history of a starting QB?
To me it doesnt matter what position Tebow played. He has started 15 games in his career. That is not even a full season, no one should get put on a list like this with out playing for a number of years. James Lofton would not have even made the Hall of Fame if Tebow was his QB. He wouldnt have caught enough balls or had enough yards to make it.
I'm beginning to think you are a closet Tebow fan.. Vito made a good point, so I'm done arguing my point. lol
ESPN does these things to get people talking and going to their site and, of course, make money. They did the same thing earlier in the year when they said Kobe is like the 8th best player in the NBA. It's to get dumbasses like ourselves upset, talking and visiting the site :D
