Hunting in general is probably my #1 hobby. But I have many that I try to allocate time to. Right now I'm splitting time between riding the street bike, UTV, and some 3-D shooting. My G/F's little girl is going to be quiet the athlete and I figure soon I will be involved with some coaching responsiblities.
Depends on the criteria used. The hunting and fishing lifestyle is what I choose to live. Or should I say just grew up living and don't know any better. Now if you forced me to choose which part of that lifestyle I liked best. It would depend on the month, but bowhunting would rank very neat the top regardless. Fishing means just as much to me as hunting does.
I'm not sure how to gauge my hobby hierarchy. I really get into bowhunting once October rolls around. However by the end of December I'm really looking forward to Spring. I spend far more time and money on bowfishing and bowfishing related activities than any other hobby. My entire Spring and Summer pretty much revolves around it. By time the end of August rolls around... I'm pretty burnt out on it tho' and I start looking forward to October and deer hunting. :D Before I really got into bowfishing, I spent more time trapping than bowhunting. (because it's easier to get permission to trap 'coons than to deer hunt where I lived.)
Number one Hobby? Yes, that means that it takes 1% more than the next closest :D I love to predator hunt, I love to hunt upland birds & waterfowl, I love to fish, play golf etc...
Yes, I think it's my #1 hobby. Followed closely by a three way tie with gun hunting (turkeys, groundhogs, predators and deer), competitive archery, and fishing. Pretty boring I guess, but I'm really enjoying working on my house right now too, I put at least as much time into home improvement type work as I do with all of my other hobbies combined. I think this is a sign that I'm getting old.
Same here Steve, although right now in the Off season and nice weather, I can't stay off my Harley. :d
X2 Upland game or Deer it's all hunting too me... Golf is my distraction for 4 or 5 months, in between my scouting and setting up stands.
I guess it would be. I usually spend more time and money on hunting then anything else. But right now most time and money is spent trying to develop a piece of land my wife and I bought to build our future home on so we can get the heck out of town and live back in the woods!
I would say fly fishing is my number one hobby because I can do it 365 days a year. Bowhunting is a close second, but it only equals about 3 months of the year.
Nope. It's a seasonal thing up here but I'd have to say that this is #1 (hooking people up with big kings)
Easily yes, but followed by boating and bass fishing. Fatherhood comes my way in a few short weeks and my time afield will be affected, but thats more than ok.
Well, my ultimate priority is family. Being a husband and dad is always #1. Now my daughter is out of high school and in college, the time spent doing the dad stuff has slowed! No more ball games ( I was a cheer dad, imagine that), show choir, band shows parent's meeting, chaperoning etc etc. So ya know what that means.... More time in the woods!!!:d Actually, the fall brings my 2 greatest loves other than family. Bowhunting and NFL football!! If you look over by name you will see Adrian " All Day" Peterson, so that will tell ya what team I am a fanatic about. If you ask anyone in my family or anyone close to me, they will tell you I am known for two things. Being a bowhunting nut and hardcore Minnesota Vikings ( well, NFL football in general) freak! Those are my 2 main things. Right after those 2 are the UFC ( that is right up there, but still a hair under the other 2), and I also love my fishing, camping, skiing and other outdoor stuff. But bowhunting and NFL are my top 2 for sure!
the more I read and think about this thread the more I realize my need to make hunting a higher priority in my family's life... particularly my boys... i've got them shooting both gun and bows at ages 4 and 8 respectively, oldest has been on the bow for 2yrs now and using a BB gun and .22 since he was 3, youngest for about a year now... I've got some $$ to invest in gear coming up as I mentioned in a different thread i'm lookin for a climber for this season and a few other small accessories like some insulated bibs and some winter weight gloves... this season holds some extra excitement for me as it is more serious than last year and the effort level is much higher...
