I just recently saw a broadhead that has a laser pointer in it. I like cool things like that but I think that's going a little bit too far for bowhunting. I don't know why but it just wouldn't feel right to me if I used that. think about it, you wouldn't even need a sight at that point. now im just saying my opinion about a new product so please don't write mean comments back because lately, ive been getting a lot of those mean comments on little mistakes make. Im only 12 guys, I MAKE MISTAKES. all im asking is how yall feel about this product because PERSONALLY it just doesn't feel right to me. thanks
I know the broadheads you are talking about and I think they are used mainly for sighting in? I'm not sure if a laser would show up on a deer at 30 yards or so anyway.
If the laser was used to hunt, it would be miserable. At 30 yards you put the dot on the spine, at 40 on the tree behind your target 6" above its back. Don't see it working.
Yeah like DC said I think those are mainly used to sight in. But you do have a point- bowhunting is "evolving" very rapidly. This has been both for the good and also, at times, the bad. I am interested to see the bowhunting technology that will be around 10 years from now..
I want Rambos broadheads. The ones with a explosive in them. Won't have a issue blood trailing that deer lol
True. And because there are so many other eyes in the woods, you more than likely would be busted in low light situations. How would you be able to use it during a mid-day hunt when there sun is blaring?
I could possibly see it as being useful for sighting in, otherwise just shoot a couple more regular arrows and get it sighted in correctly.
Alex, just like the rest of the world, bowhunting is evolving. My "loaded" 2000 truck doesn't have as many options as my "stripped" 2012 focus. Every year bows evolve just a bit, broadheads a little too, arrows also... You must realize the hunting industry is exploding. Also, everyone wants to be rich. This breeds invention. Some inventions are very good, but others, even though they hit the market and gain a small following, really are useless. Let's take the laser broadhead as a great example. The nock point of most bows is slightly higer than the contact point of your rest, so the arrow by the time it gets to the end is pointing down pretty good. So, when you lift the bow up enough to put the laser on your target, you're more than likely aiming well over the target. To me, it doesn't make sense. Maybe it's because I haven't researched it at all, but it sounds overly complicated. Just do your thing. Be logical on purchases. If it doesn't make sense, it's probably not going to work. If it sparks interest, do your research. I love technology and engineering so I'm happy to see it.
That particular product would be useless. Arrows travel in an arch toward the target, a laser only travels in a straight line. It would only be accurate for a couple meters. More to the point, archery has evolved a lot, but when it gets down to it you are still just launching a sharpened stick from a string. If you get uncomfortable with new gadgets all you need to do is buy simpler equipment, maybe even try traditional archery. One of the most successful bowhunters I know uses a recurve with wooden arrows he makes himself.
I agree - those products will sell if people use them... I'm not buying. You can go rifle hunting if you want it easy...
