Is being a stay at home mom worth it?

God, why couldn't this have been posted a coupe months ago? :)

Actually Hook, glad you posted this as I would have been asking the same things. My wife wants to stay home and I'm on the fence. Selfishly, I've been thinking about agreeing to it so I can still have some hunting time for the years to come but this seems to be frowned upon? About half of my wife's paycheck would cover daycare and the other half would take care of a big chunk of the mortgage. I feel like we could get by on my salary but sacrifices would have to be made and this concerns me. I think/hope it will change when "MegaDon" is born.

Can I expect a hot meal to be ready when I get home from work? Or is that a friggin fairy tale too?

A wife that wants to stay home will usually have your dinner on the table for you ... on days she finds the time.... it will be the best choice you could make ... you, will be her hero ... and you will reap the benefits ;)

It wouldn't bother me if it was. I'm perfectly comfortable with my role right now. :D

So no one liked my "have her start a home business while she raising the kids" idea?

That's how most great businesses start out. Mom and Pop with an idea.

Shouldn't you be doing some cleaning right now? Get busy whipping up some dinner and dont forget to clean the toilets.

Kidding. I do all of those things and more. I think every man should. Marriage is a team sport. Kudos to you Dan for being a good partner to your wife and allowing her to also pursue a life outside of the home.

    60% decrease or 40% decrease? I think I'll go with the 40%.

But if she made more than me, I'd gladly stay home. I would make a wonderful housewife.

Is it true what they say? No dinner made, dirty dishes, dirty laundry, screaming kids thrown in your arms as soon as you get home? :)

**** no! Didn't you see the above posts? "Don't expect the house to be clean, laundry done or hot meals when you get home."

One thing I don't get though, why do stay at home moms not want to put out? This gig hasn't hurt my libido. :D
