Oh Trevor, so young, so naive. Comparing how you feel about racial terms as a white male to other races, was like Brad comparing being hard of hearing to being mentally challenged. Since young minorities have it so easy, would you trade places?
As a white male, I don't see how language used by someone can then be offensive if used by others. It is comparable to a mentally challenged person using the word retarded, then being hurt when others say it. No I wouldn't trade places with someone in my scenario above, I wasn't poor growing up and had great parents that brought me up the right way. Would I have cared if I was in the same scenario only with darker skin? Nope. Would I have LOVED to change places with some of the girls and minority students when applying to Graduate programs with equal GPAs, Test Scores, and Resumes? HECK YEAH!
I have an old, gay, deaf, black, liberal friend that fishes left handed and he thinks I'm mentally challenged, whats up with that?
They exist, most hold spinning reels upside down and crank the handle back wards, and they buy their tackle at the local Wal- Mart while picking up the weeks lotto tickets, DR Pepper and chipped ham.
Uh... I think I fish left handed... I always switch my spinning reel handles to the right side of the reel... Everyone else seems to "Reel" with their left hand....
Hey...I do the same thing and my fishing buddy always makes fun of me. It's just feels more natural and I'm right handed. Makes perfect sense to me!
Man, this thread went to hell in a hurry. Where did we get off track on this one. I wasn't paying attention for a couple days and BAM.... You folks nuked this thread. Back to the original question... I don't know if anyone mentioned this or not.... but be forewarned. Momma can't stay home all day changing diapers and cleaning house and having to devote 100 percent of her attention to the little one without something having to give. She's going to need some down time. Yes I know she can nap when the baby does but more than likely will be thinking dinner or whatever most of the time. You're going to have to give her relief when you're home. I know, you worked all day yada yada daba dabba do.... but it's not the same. Just be prepared to have the conversation and having to genuinely help out at night and weekends and all that.
So you start a thread and then go off and leave it on its own in the care of virtual strangers? Is that how you intend to treat your child? Seriously, I've never been a SAHM and never planned to be so I don't really have any thing to add. She should have some maternity leave so maybe she could give it a try before she decides. Even if she gives it a shot for a couple years, she can always go back to work. Then again, you may decide to have more kids too. May The Sheep Be With You
Does anyone live up to your standards ?? Must suck to look down on everyone all the time. Sounds messed up to me. Here a hint for future posts of mine... 1. Unlike you I know I am not perfect. 2. I tend to not take the forums to serious ( especially the water cooler ) and reply with humor or at least try. You should try it sometime when your not drinking cause I kind of enjoy the fun loving, drunk posting fletch920. 3. I work long hours and the last two kids slept good at night and were usually sleeping when I would get home. To tell you the truth... when I was at home and the kids needed changing she just did it. I am not a real gentle person... the kids were much better off with her changing them and giving baths. 4. I didn't meet the first daughter until she was out of diapers ( barely ) and adopted her right after I married her wonderful mom. 5. As I write this in all seriousness... looking down at you doesn't make me feel all that great. Fact I get no enjoyment out of it at all. You seem to enjoy it. Again... who is really messed up ?? Tim
Here's a reason to be a SAHM/D. My wife "liked" this on facebook and its how I found it. http://www.facebook.com/JusticeForBryceMosier
