Obviously morning hunts are awesome because the birds are really vocal but I think the majority of toms I've called into shooting range has been between 11pm and 3pm, seems like when the hens go to nest and the toms are alone they are a lot easier to work with.

NY spring season is sunrise till noon. I've shot almost all my birds right at sunrise or between 930-10am.

Wish that we could hunt all day here in Vt. too.
Love calling from a blind but mid to late day spot and stalk would be a rush!

Here in IL we can only hunt until 1 and I've seen the same as a lot of you guys - mid to late mornings are great times to hunt turkeys. I shot my bird this year just after noon.

It seems in Michigan's early season the best times are from 8am to 2pm. Not very vocal in the afternoon here.

I have killed a few late in the day, like after 5:00 pm. I actually killed one yesterday in Indiana at about 7:30 pm. Afternoon hunting can be hit or miss. Generally though if you get one gobbling, he is killable. It is fun, but not generally quite the same as that morning rush when they are strutting and gobbling hard.
