Is a getaway trip enough for a first anniversary...

...or do I need a gift as well?

I need to know pretty quick.

 

Buy her an iron or maybe a vacuum cleaner too just to be sure.

 

I got my wife a dog and a collage of all the pictures from our first year together for our first anniversary. She got me lottery tickets to stick with the classic paper theme. I think a present from your trip would be a good idea, if you could somehow sneak it.

 

I'd be getting a gift too if it was me. May not be as big of a gift, but I'd still get her something.

 

Set the expectations low. If you raise the bar too high, where do you go for 5, 10 or ... 20?

 

She married Hooker, how much lower can her expectations get? :D

 

write her a note or plant a tree in your yard... kinda like paper, and each year you can watch it grow. if it dies...... plant another one before she finds out!

 

I just learned about these themes yesterday. It kinda blew my mind. I'm just going to pretend like I never heard of such a thing before.

I'm sure we will do plenty of shopping, but I don't know how I would buy her a gift during the trip without her seeing it...

We are going to Austin for a few days, but I'm sure we will end up at a flea market or two, that is kinda her thing. Which makes buying gifts for her so difficult. She is just too damn quirky.

 

And I agree, get her something small. Not the thing in the box.

Or if you come home to find the tree chopped down... just keep driving, go empty/close your bank accounts, cancel the credit cards then call the lawyer.

I think a get-away is a nice idea. Just me, and I think my future misses and I will do just that. We will probably do a bed and breakfast, or a second honeymoon. We like taking trips

So I bought her a watch. The modern theme is "clock" so I went with that. And because she wants a watch.

The man in me still thinks the trip should be enough. But oh well.

My husband pays no attention to those paper, etc., things. I have an earring fetish, so he usually gets me earrings with a special meaning.
