This is why i am changing my cams over to black flash, Yeah i know some bucks dont spook but some do. When cams are set up in pic mode most never think about what the deer does after the flash but in video this happens all the time on my cams.

Since I am using the M80 exclusively in the video mode I have noticed more deer having an adverse reaction to flash. Now I also have a Leaf River cam that I also use exclusively in the video mode and the deer practically ignore it. I don't know why the difference. In the past, I wasn't always so sure it was the flash they were reacting to because I've had them stand and stare at the cams even when there was no flash. I just think they are individules and they all react differently.

Alot of the mature deer seem to flee the flash,Hope to have my cams all changed over to black or low glow by fall.
In the very least i am going to cover the ir flash of my other cams with black tape so the mature deer will continue to use the trails and scrapes they have gotten used to.

I have not seen any deer react to my ltl acorn black flash cams at all.

The M-80s IR flash is a lot more intense than most other cameras, that's probably why they spook.

I have been saying this for years. I found out the year I bought 3 IR cams. I have a video similar to yours that shows a big buck stop in his tracks and then skirt the cam. When taking just pics, I would get a single pic of a mature buck and that was it. When it snowed, I could see the tracks circling the cam. A lot of people disputed my claim, but I had proof. Nowdays I put my cams on something they want or need..... food, food plots, water holes or minerals. Deer will pose all day long under those circumstances.

I'd be interested in seeing a black flash pic and video if you have any.

    Thanks.

Do you have any where deer aren't so close to the cam? It doesn't appear to illuminate very far from the camera.

I would love to have the black IR cams, but until they meet my pricing requirements, I'll be sticking w. standard IR. Honestly, I don't even mind a standard flash camera. The take some great night pics.

This is funny that you wrote this Roger. I pulled a couple of my truth cameras today for this exact reason. Came home and told the wife, I am selling these right now and buying new!!!!!!!!!!! I am tired of looking at these deer running away from the cameras after they have gotten the picture taken or video.

That is true, but it hasn't effected my deer any. I think it helps because it makes them look at the camera.

That was definately the problem with that cam. I don't even think that baiting could have overcame it.

Been saying this for years too. If I remember correctly I've told you Ultra countless times that these IR cams spook deer. That's the exact reason why I bought the Reconyx cams a few years back as the glow Is allot less then the regular IR cams.

I do remembering talking with you about how great the recon-x cams are but i still cant afford them and i still dont have the (&aLLs) to leave one in the woods if i could afford them.

There are much smaller and alot cheaper black or low glow ir flash cams on the market that that for the money guys can buy 2-3 for the price of one recon-x cams and maybe do a better job having more mp ratings and plot mode not to mention audio on some along with wireless options that your cam does not offer.:) maybe they will catch up.:poke:

I know, you hate Reconyx. ;) By the way, their cams are small too now. I don't blame you though on not wanting to leave It out and get stolen although I do It every year on state land where I bear hunt.

I dont hate them,There just not even close to my price range,I have 14 cams and cover alot of ground with them, but i lost one this year and had another moved on me this season so i am paranoid to say the least not to mention the amount of people roaming even private ground here in the midwest. At one time i think they were state of art cam but not in this new market when almost all company's have big mp ratings, some up 12mp, black flash and plot modes and even cell phone technology for less $$ and coming down every year from what i see.
