I agree with you, with one exception. My phone works as well as my laptop for the things I use it for (spreadsheets, word processing, games, etc... still need cpu). The only reason I could understand someone having to have the iphone over the android is that they solely use Mac: Ipad, I Mac, Macbook, Ipod. If that's the case, it makes sense. Otherwise... hype. I could go trade in my SIII for the iphone, but I won't. It's a good phone with a lot of hype. They are really good at marketing as someone said. To make the same phone over and over (with slight changes) and sell millions is a trick. This new change to the plug in was a great job too. Now millions of people have to go buy new docks, chargers, etc.

Sucker me into what? A faster, slimmer, bigger screened phone with the best resolution on the market? Color me suckered.
I just assumed you could decipher....whoops.

1)Just a phone? Really? Simply not true. I could throw away my laptop (Macbook Pro...shocker I know :D) and do everything that I need on my phone to make a living. Everything. Make quotes, conference calls, email, edit pictures, etc etc etc.

    2) And that is exactly why Apple left them out. 99% of the users could give a ****, so why throw more bull**** in? Incredible design is in having the nuts and bolts only - not throwing features on that most of the folks don't care or know about.

The bottom line is, people just love to hate Apple. lol

There you go, just in case you missed it.

Good, so now you know I don't hate Apple. I dislike their business model. Much like a dislike Microsoft's and even Adobe's (both of which I use EVERY day). From a business standpoint, I'm sure smartphones are great for you. Thankfully I have a career that doesn't require one strapped to me, so my needs differ. I edit a lot of photos (raw and batch processing...which if I remember correctly, you shoot some yourself so I doubt you would do much editing on that Iphone) and do a lot of design work...both of which obviously can't be done on the mobile level (no Instagram doesn't count), so that's why I made the statement I made.

I won't continue as I've already hijacked the thread too much.

To Afflicted, I apologize, bud. :D

    Carry on, everyone.

I have an IPhone 4s and while I like the improvements in the 5, I am not willing to buy one. With that said, the IPhone is the ONLY smartphone that I have ever used that has never given me a single problem. I have had a bunch of smartphone dating back to my Palm Treo700. Every single phone had serious flaws except the IPhone. My phone never freezes, never crashes, the screen sensors dont go out like the HTC Hero and Evo did, the phone just works smoothly all the time and that is my major concern with the phone! Call me a sheep, but this sheep has a phone that performs all the time!

They do not....yet. Sounds like they are coming soon. And we will be glad to sell them to the folks that think they have to have one. But, we have fun stopping in other retail outlets to check them out and their sales techniques. We always ask the sales reps which phone is the best smart phone and we have yet to have any of them say the iPhone. Without exception, we are told the droids are better. Usually, the Samsung's. This from the people that are trained on all brands. Then when we tell them what we are up to, they usually laugh and joke about the people that wont listen to any details about product, they just want their iPhone. They dont care about applications, speed, screen, durability, etc., etc., they just want an iPhone. Most dont have a clue why.....they just gotta have it. I am not saying that the iPhone is a bad phone, but it certainly does not live up to the hype. The new one is still behind the curve in several ways. To each his own. Some people shoot Hoyts too, can you imagine?

Only reason Ill be getting an Iphone 5 is because I still have a 3g from two years ago. It has a cracked screen and starting to hurt my fingers when I unlock it. Im also due for an upgrade and will be keep the 5 for the two years until my next upgrade. Im not going to throw out 200-400 dollars every year. Just every other year lol

Maybe Droids have improved in the past 6 months, but almost all of my friends use them and they ALWAYS mess up. Screens go out, they freeze, their battery life sucks, they don't have many accessories, the apps aren't as plentiful, the home/lock screens aren't as intuitive...

I also used to hate on Mac users calling them sheep and that PCs are just as good for half the cost. Then I bought one. Never gets a virus, never slows down, never freezes, battery life still 90% of original life after one year of HARD use. They just simply work. All the time without fail. Similar to an IPhone.

Just because more people use a product doesn't mean it's better, but it doesn't mean it's necessarily worse with good marketing either.

My iPhone MacBook pro and iPod all sync up on their own. I don't do anything. Same with Mac installations...everything basically works itself out for you.

Every PC I've ever used was slow as molasses after 6-8 months because I'm not a computer genius who knows how to defrag, remove viruses, etc...for the average technological person apple products just work better.

And yes I shoot a Mathews, although I'm debating scraping the label off similar to the sticker I put over the apple on my MacBook pro

Those are the two most popular arguments given.

    A) everyone uses it so naturally it's a better product

    Or

    B) it's a worse product that is only being bought because of the great marketing/brainwashing by the company.

There are plenty products that are better that aren't nearly as widely used but it's not only because those that use the most popular product are brainwashed.

    Gotcha.

    Well.....better is objective.

    I just want 1) functionality. 2) reliability.

Then it all comes down to economics as far as price point, etc.

Okay you phone geeks... I'm using a blackberry bold 9700 that is close to 3 years old. It's been kicked, stomped, dropped and submerged for hours (none of this on purpose) and it still works. Mostly. It locks up a lot now and the phone lens is so scratched up that it takes fuzzy photos.

So, I want a new phone. I was thinking I'd get this much hyped iphone. I have zilcho experience with iphone.

I like my BB. I like the keys, I like the no-brain needed email ease. In the years I've had my BB I've downloaded seven apps total. I use the kindle, flashlight and Entune app. That's pretty much it. I don't surf the web with it.
i'm lame when it comes to such techy things.

Perhaps, I should just get the cheaper iphone 4s? I'm quite sure the bells and whistles of the new iphone will be lost on me.
I could just get anonther BB but I'd like to have an iphone just to see what the hype is about.

    Thoughts??
