Well got out this weekend both afternoons and I'm shocked at all the bucks chasing Does right now it's just unreal to see you'd think it was mid Nov. Had a guy that hunt the same land and he's seen the same thing and the scrapes have really showed up more and more of the bucks are showing up in the day time on the trail cams so I may try some lite raddling and grunts this afternoon to see how that goes. Hope you guys are seeing a lot of the same movement as I am. The crops are almost all out now around me also so things should start heating up in the woods more but the winds here have been nuts.
Got word yesterday corn is being picked on my lease now. Should be a good week to be in stand. I'll be out Tuesday and Wednesday.

Two nice 8s came in last night together. Grunted at them and they got all pissy and brissled up. As they came my way, they attacked every small tree in their way. Seemed friendly towards each other though. Definitely time to start hitting the woods.
Can't wait to get out this afternoon got every thing done here at home and the wife's happy so time for me to get happy to lol nothing like siting in my tree stand. Good luck to you smitty .
Should be a beautiful afternoon. Good luck to you too bent. I had a lot more action my camera this past week. No mature bucks. A lot of 2.5 years olds. Not worried, tho. Plenty of doe on this property and I know there is at least one giant hanging around.
Pretty dead here in SE Iowa this morning. Farmer has been cutting corn the last couple days, figured I would see some movement. Checked 2 cams on the way in, nada, got one cam on the other side of the property I'll check when I head to lunch.
Well sad news guys. Went out this last weekend to an awesome property I have permission to hunt in eastern Iowa. 200 acres of river bottom land with some monster bucks roaming around. Sitting in the stand on Friday evening around 6:10 I heard a gunshot close to me. Got down from my stand shortly after to walk back to the cabin and came across the muzzle loader hunter who was down there hunting as well. Turns out he shot the nicest buck out there (the one in my avatar deal). Only about 300 yards from where my stand is. Siigh... Happy he got the deer of his lifetime but pretty bummed too. Oh well there's more out there. Gonna try to get out this weekend and get lucky. Corn is coming out all over down here so I have my fingers crossed for some more activity. I'll keep you guys posted. Sorry to hear that Wapsi I would be bummed for sure. Like the vid Bent hope you at last have an encounter with him! Im heading out tomorrow afternoon to sit in a spot that only would work with a southern wind and its looking like it should be great! ill let ya know how it goes since I haven't hunted this spot just scouted it 2 months ago looked busy with deer trails and acorns
AAAAANNNNDDDDDD..... Nothing Got out about 330 and sat till dark did not see one deer Did have a Turkey run up behind me kinda made me jump wasn't expecting that. Excited I got out, happy to see some animals, deer could have been more cooperative lol. Is this a lul people talk about?
Dang Locked! Hope the deer get more active for you. How far NE are you in Iowa? I occasionally hunt up by the Clinton area so more east than north but wondered how far up you were. I went out last night and saw quite a few deer. Unfortunately the only ones that were within shooting range were little forker bucks and a couple doe fawns so I didn't take a shot. Going to the same property tonight though and I have to say... I think I'm feeling lucky...
It's gonna be a warm one here in SE Iowa today, and the next 2, but supposed to be almost a 20degree drop between Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday just happens to be my day off, hoping for a good day. Then I get 5 days off starting next Sunday. Hoping I timed it right for rut...

Since a few of us are pretty active on this thread, let's sound off on where we are hunting at. I live in keokuk and hunt some public ground around argyle sometimes, and I have a small lease by wever, about 10 mins from burlington.
I hunt just south of Dubuque and this year im doing some hunting within the city limits. Huge deer population here in town.
I live a little ways north of Mt Pleasant and hunt that area plus a property near Clinton. Saw the biggest buck I've ever seen up close last night and didn't shoot it.. Still feeling sick this morning. I'll send a pic of it eventually. Good luck to anyone out hunting today
