I'm headed up to Iowa, from Whiteman AFB, down here in Missouri..Iowa is my home state, I will be hunting in Wayne County from the 7th-11th...Any Info on the Rut? I need to kill a monster, I can't come back to work empty handed. I will never hear the end of that...
Wayne county has some big boys. From what I hear, it's starting to warm up. After being sick, I'll be headed to the stand for Friday-Monday. Good luck all and be safe!
good luck and stay safe to you also, i hunted down there 2 years ago..saw lots of big deer but they were all locked on does and never could get them in close
Went out this weekend. Saturday saw 2 8 points cross the middle of our field we hunt both in the morning about an hour apart from each other. Today I saw 1 good sized buck about 10 yards from me but was on the other side of treeline through the thick brush... He was sniffing the branches then messing with them... He later went farther down treeline and crossed into my side of the treeline about 150 yards away and crossed middle of field where the two ons saturday crossed (this was about 10:15 sunday morning)... This evening I saw a Doe and a buck or/ doe(too far away couldn't tell and put binoculars away) cross behind me in a different field at 4:30.... So they are moving, just not in my range and they are pretty spread out.
I saw 8 bucks and two does today. Shot one buck this morning at 6:50 AM and spent until 4:00 PM looking for him (after a short after shot sit). A friend came out to help as I am colorblind and after 60 yards through the ravines, the blood trail ended. I hit him good and he still has my FMJ with Muzzy in him. We just couldn't find him.
Well I guess things around sw Iowa are starting to heat up . Local acquaintance Shot this guy last week about 1 mile from my hunting spot.
Went out this morning, arrow clipped a branch on a 22 yard doe shot and just went low. Kicking myself. Saw my 9 pointer, he is bust up as hell. Kinda mad about that, but that means he's been fighting with a 10 that i thought was just passing through that is hopefully actually living there.
My buddy just called me. Got a decent buck this morning he said they are running like crazy! He was covered up in deer this morn and they were all chasing does so it's happening right now guys.
I put my buck down at 7:10 AM. Hit him in the neck and cut his jugular vein before burying the broadhead into his spine. Photo on PT's "Another Text" in the bow hunting forum.
Did anybody shotgun this weekend? Saw a total of 2 spikes, and the other guys in the group saw 5 does. Sounds like lots of people didn't see a ton of deer.
Shot this decent 8 point but deer numbers were very low. Our party of 6 only killed 2 on the first day when we almost always tag out.
I know, its rough but i gotta say i love the cooler weather. I heard they cut tags way back for this year.
That's what I've heard as well Got a glimpse of the regs and it looks like they've dropped a season as well
