Now that it’s posted on most social media, here is the buck my good friend killed last weekend in SE Iowa on a free range lease.

What's the good work on Iowa hunting fellas?

Also, please put in a reminder for me to apply for my 3rd Iowa pref pt in this thread next year!

Based on my camera activity this year, it’s terrible lol. I got my rutcation planned starting the 7th so hopefully it picks up by then!

Next year will only be my second so I still have plenty of time to prepare and try to figure out where I am going to go once I can draw a tag.

My food source cameras are slowing up. One camera is still on an apple tree, surprisingly still getting some deer and some daylight buck activity. The other camera is now in the timber. Been getting decent activity with some nice bucks sprinkled in. Leaving next week, can't wait!

I got one in Zone 5 11/7 in the am. Was covered in deer from first light, once they moved on I rattled and had one come in and snort wheezed at me. He started sidestepping the creek bank. Shot em around 20yds. Saw 6 buck that am, was a morning I dreamed about. Can’t wait to go back.

Pretty sure this Saturday is the first day to apply for points/draw. At least that's what has been on my calendar for almost a year. Ha! I'm curious if the number of applications will be up or down. I've never put in but plan to.

I'll have my 3rd point this year and plan on trying to draw again next year for one of the lower point zones. I'm not holding out for 4-5-6. Aint nobody got time for that.
