My best friend decided to sell everything he has here in MN, pack the family, and move to SE Iowa. He bought a 40-acre farm that connects to a good chunk of public in a great area. I finally have a connection and starting point when I apply for my tag in the next few years.

By the time any of us draw Iowa archery tags they will cost $1,000 and all of the deer will be dead from CWD or EHD.

I purchased my fifth on Saturday… Question. Can I use that fifth for the upcoming season?

Me and a buddy just purchased our 4th point this year. Shooting for next year. I'm only a few hours south of zone 5 and 6 so I'm planning to do alot of scouting the year I plan to hunt

From what I read you can. You can buy and apply the same year

I dont think so. Usually if you apply for tag, then if you dont get it, you get a extra point.

Buying points is only for people that dont plan to hunt that year.

You cant put in for a tag and buy a point in the same year. If you already bought a point, then you have to wait til next year to apply for a tag.

Edit: I could be completely wrong on this, but every state I've hunted with points was this way.

Correct - you can't buy a point and use it to apply the same year. It's either one or the other.

That would be epic. I’ll have 5pts next spring so I’m guessing my 4 would not make the cut.
