How many preference points do I need to build up in Iowa as a non-resident before I should expect a 100% guaranteed draw? I have 2 wondering if I need a third?

I've always heard that it depends on what zone. I have two as well and buyung a 3rd tomorrow. With 3 there should be a good chance of anywhere in the state. Two might be tough in SE Iowa. Im not an expert on this, just sharing what I have learned from a few buddies.

There's a page on the dnr's website that shows you how many points it took to draw last year. I'll look for it later.

Most units you will need between 2-4 points to draw ...right now there is one or two that still isn't 100% with four points.
