Hey all, I just moved to the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area from Central KS. Any good public land around? I have family with land about 2 hours west, I'm not sure how much timber they have, but apart from this, what are some good places to look at?

    Thanks

I know some in central Iowa but you probably don't want to drive that far

There are a lot of places around you there. I live there for awhile and there are some nice public lands south of waterloo. The best way to find it all is to ask around like I did and or buy a hunting map book they sell at walmart.

    Hey guys!

Tags go on sale this weekend. I bought my Iowa Hunting License today. Things are a little different than KS here so I have a few questions.

    1) looks like I can get 1 any deer tag (buck/doe)
    2) the quota for Black Hawk county is 0, does this mean I cannot get any doe tags?
-Can I buy tags for another county that I'll be hunting in, or does it go by residency?
    3) Are turkey tags on sale this weekend? Do I have to buy those tags for the corresponding zone I'll be hunting in, or is it luck of the draw, what you get is what you get?

Buy tags according to the county you are hunting in.

What are some of the good large areas that would be good for bowhunting? I don't mind driving an hour or two for weekend hunts. Really just want a place that I can walk a ways back and not have to worry about other hunters. It seems there is a bunch of land so I can't imagine there are a ton of bowhunters but sounds like shotgun is a zoo
