Shot her tonight at 6:15pm with her two little ones watching. Perfect double lung from 35yards. Easton arrows, spitfire broadhead, and nocturnal nock. She is all of 200lbs (exaggeration because I was tired after dragging her out. ) but I don't have a way to weigh her. First kill with my new used bow!
Thanks Guys! As far as a lot of action...no. She was with two doe fawns and they are all I've seen all year. But, next week...the game changes.
Congrats on a great doe! But, I can assure you that she is not 200 lbs. I'm sure she felt like it though. lol
lol...probably not, but I'm serious this doe is huge. It took all me and my buddy could muster to drag her out, and the buck I shot last year, I did by myself so she is big. 150+lbs dressed.
That picture doesn't do that deer justice. Not by any stretch. The guy that took it is 6'5 and he was taking it with my crappy cell phone. It's okay that you guys don't think she was as big as she is, I'll weigh the meat as I bag it up and let you know how much I get off of her.
No worries. I'm not butt hurt. I made a great shot on a big doe and I'm happy. BTW...when I gutted her she was still lactating. I know the fawns will be fine but I've never had that happen before.
Not taking anything away from your doe. She is a beauty for sure. I am just going by the fact that we kill 20 or more does each year from our properties and have put several of the big ones on a scale. We found out in a hurry that deer do not usually weigh nearly as much as you might think. We also weigh most of the mature bucks.
I know you weren't. My estimation was based on how tired I was and not reality. I really think she is 150 dressed though. I plan on borrowing a scale from a buddy and weighing her before I skin her tomorrow night. I lift weights and I can dead lift 190lbs without issue. This deer felt close to that, but again I know she isn't 200. What would you say the average mature 3+ year old Iowa doe weighs dressed? 100? 125? less?
