Today's newspaper reports that Iowa issued 359,956 deer tags last year and only 99,406 deer were harvested. Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the harvest numbers will be considered when discussing hunting seasons for this year. Good sign or no?
I don't think it's accurate. I'm sure there are a lot of people that don't report them. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk
The DNR has asked for fewer doe tags and limiting some of the bonus seasons for two years now and the Governor has just done whatever Farm Bureau wanted him to do. Which was NOTHING. Branstad signed an executive order when he got back in office that means he can basically dictate whatever he wants. It's really starting to hurt us. I sent him an email and received the same flippant response that I got last year. I am a conservative, but will vote for anyone that runs against him in the primary if he continues this crap.
I don't know about anyone else, but I have seen a lot of deer this year during and after season. A couple weeks ago while driving back home after paying for the new place we saw a total of 79 deer along hwy 14 in Lucas County alone. Had many more between Columbia and Indianola.
Go look on public ground in the rilfe zones. There are very few if any deer. Something must change for the average deer hunter.
