I have lost an animal taking what I considered a high percentage, ethical shot. It does happen and it sucks. The odds of wounding an animal are greater on a low percentage shot. I'm a certified IBEP bowhunter ed instructor and I can tell you with a certainty that in our shoot don't shoot scenarios that is a no shoot deal.
And while Chris isn't responsible for how other people hunt, he is responsible for promoting that shot. Come on, how many 15 year old kids out there think Chris is "Cool, and cutting edge"? Probably most that watch the show. Do you mean to tell me you don't think a kid, fairly new to bowhunting and impressed with the bad boy attitude and hard rock image wouldn't take the shot if a deer were facing him? Particularly after Chris said several times its a good shot? Regardless of his skill level, many, (certainly not all), in that age group will think it can be done.
Again, for me, considering the target demographic I believe it was irresponsible to promote the shot on a nationally syndicated show.
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

I see your point of view Tx and we can agree to disagree. I personally don't think kids are as influenced by tv, music, video games, and whatever else, as much as most of the general public does. When I was a kid a listened to metal, played "bad" video games and watched tv shows that a kid probabaly shouldn't see and I turned out just fine. As a matter of fact in my line of work I have an FBI background check ran on me twice a year just to make sure my employer knows everything...but anyways... I can see he could be an ifluence on kids, but I think he is more of a positive influence than a negative one. I agree that I don't want kids zingin arrows all over the woods at every animal that moves, but Chris is skilled enough to get away with these difficult shots. No hard feelings Tx we just don't quite see eye to eye on this one...but I can see it from your point of view.

After reading this thread I saw his show on and watched it for the first time. I think I am way to old to be in his target audience. Then I see him shoot a pig in the head and the pig runs off with the arrow sticking out. I was very unimpressed with his show. I stopped watching after 10 minutes.
