I'll go with Hooker here as well. My internet ethics are worse than mine in real life:D

And if any of ya'll in MO have used lighted nocks in the past, you've broken the law. But that's a thread for another day.......The point being, with the way the laws are written, and some of them being downright ridiculous and little publicized......Unless you know the 'rules and regs' book inside out, it's almost impossible to NOT break the occasional law. Have I committed a few minor infractions in my day? Sure. Some of them knowing at the time I was.

And Scott.....I don't know how your laws are written, but there is no law that says I have to get out of my treestand at a certain time, I just can't shoot past that time. How would that go in court should an agent see me in the tree after dark? I dunno, but unless I shoot it's not illegal. Again, another topic for another day.

I would, however, consider myself to be an ethical hunter.

The reason most people's internet ethics are higher is because there is so much less you know about a person over the computer. So they want to come off as a good guy and the best way to do that is to try and appear as upstanding as possible. No big deal.

I don't tiptoe around anything.. I tell it like it is.

I am VERY ethical when it comes to hunting.. but I could care less what another man does.. cause to me.. it's just a deer.. or whatever else they're hunting.

Do I make un-ethical mistakes while in the woods.. YUP.

And I've always confessed to each one.. cause frankly.. I suck at times.

As far as others and internet ethics.. I don't know.. never thought of it really.. and I still don't.

1st of all Jeff I don't see anyone being perfect on here for the most part. 2nd of all this Is the last place anyone should be talking about stupid Illegal things they've done while hunting. Nice ammo for the non hunters to check out (ever see the guest's on the websites). Some things are much better left then said.

If people are dumb enough to put some of the stuff they put on a hunting forum (ridiculous shots) their going to get criticized.

The older I get the more Ethical I become. At this point in my life it's just a deer or whatever I'm hunting. Have I been a bad boy? Well yes I have :whip: but I'm like a fine wine I get better with age.

Well said. I am in no way perfect but I believe my net ethics and real life ethics are the same.

I try to live my life and hunting just like I talk about it on here. I am not perfect but I strive to do the right thing. I am not a good liar, so I try to talk and act just like I do in my everyday life while conversing with you all.

I was not born perfect, I am not perfect now, and I will not be perfect when I die.

The things I say in forums I try to live by. It my visual example of the perfectly ethical person and hunter. In the heat of the moment do some things get blurred, yeah sure they do. But I am a good person that strives to leave things better than I found them, and I have a deep respect for the animals I hunt & fish and the land and water that I do it on.

Ethics however, are as different as people.

So what does his mean? You are Switzerland again! Get involved! How does this effect you..which side of the topic do you reside on. Your always quick to point out the short-comings of the board, rarley adding your personal opinion (other than a broad overview of everyone elses problem).

    He said "bonkin a goat".....lol.

I had this one doe that busted me like 3 times in 2 weeks and at that point I didn't want to shoot her anymore I did however want to slap her around a little. Unethical? Probably, but I'm just trying to keep it real.

Interesting post.... I think most adults KNOW what the right thing to do is on paper. However, in real life things rarely follow the script and the lines get blurred. Sometimes breaking the law may be the ethical thing to do. Sometimes just pure greed and selfishness causes us to do things we know are wrong but "aren't a big deal".

I never set out to break laws, but sometimes it happens and I'm sure it will in the future.

Bottom line is that living life is more complicated and difficult than typing about it.

I agree! But we all know when its crossing the line. Anyone that can say they have never done the things you have listed has not been hunting long or is a complete liar. Now rolling down your truck window for a shot, or takeing game out of season thats crossing the line.

Everything is pretty good, except when I shoot one more deer than my limit after flinging several arrows into an alfalfa field at 200 yards. It's hard to know what to do at that point. I mean, if you kill one over your limit... it's illegal to take it, but it's illegal to leave it too. And at 200 yards it's hard to tell if you hit them and sometimes it takes a little longer.
