How do you guys balance Family and Hunting?

To me it about POINTS that I get during the rest of the year. This year I took my wife to Chicago for a night of dinner and the theater (Wicked, 2nd row) and a fancy hotel, that put the icing on the cake for me.

I am single so I don't have to worry about it!!! But I am sure that in the future that will change and I will be wondering the same thing!

Move away from them to avoid spending too much time out of the field! he he he..... Sorry man, that's just a joke - but some-what the truth for me!

I am lucky that I've bit the bullet on a family, but it's staring me down the sights now with a serious girlfriend. Thank god she's into the hunting / video thing herself or I would be single still - or soon (rut is just around the corner).

Other than that, compromise. You have to make more than just one person happy - and IMO, children HAVE to be the priority no matter what!

In years past, I just dealt with the nagging during hunting season. Now she wants to try it, she's a little more forgiving. If she gets into it, we'll be arguing about who's gonna get out of the stand and let the dogs out!

I hunt, she understands. I reinforced that when we met from day one and gave her the opportunity to walk away. She's sticking it out with me. :d

I give her the best of 10.5 months I can and she knows to give me my season, another 1.5 months. Seems like a good trade on her part.

Family is #1 to me, I have changed quite a bit from my single days. I didnt get married until I was 30, just so could get all that other stuff out of my system. These days, I try include my family in everything I do hunting. My wife is cool, she is enjoying hunting as well and she goes out of her way to make sure I get all the time I could ever want to hunt. My boys are going hunting weekly with me now, not every day, but at least one or two times a week depending on everyones schedule.

I have always involved the famliy so we can do things together. Our kids are grown now and now its our time! We do all kinds of stuff together during the off season. My wife knew that I was a HardCore Hunter and Shooter when she Married me and has always supported me. Couldnt ask for a better one!!!! We been together for 25 years I think I'll keep her.

My wife supports me going out during the fall because I support her in her interests all thru the yr. I never tell her no, & the big thing is communicate when I have my trips planned. That seems to make a difference in arguing or not arguing. welcome to the site there buddy! & thanks for helping me track that doe last week.

My wife is pretty understanding in that my job consumes a great deal of my time and throughout most of the year were doing family stuff so she doesn't complain much come hunting season. She likes to come with every once in a while as does my stepson.

However she hates my gun safe in the family room and she really hates my deer hides on the couch. But we gotta do what we gotta do.:woot:

I'm not married and won't be atleast until I graduate in 2010, but I'm in a serious relationship, and I stressed from day one that hunting was my life. She's been pretty cool with it the first three years. I know that priorities will change in the future with kids though. She said that she wants to come with sometime this year.

I"m 56, I think my wife enjoys the break! LOL! She doesn't mind me bein hunting, heck she even watches hunting shows with me! That's one good thing about gettin old with someone, you enjoy watching them enjoy what they do and you realize what's important. She even let me buy a bunch of new huntin gear this year! My grand daughter and grand son are about the only thing can keep me out of the woods at times. Man, that little girl has me around her pinkie! If she lived with me there would be trouble! LOL! My grandson is gonna be my huntin buddy soon! lp

thats exactly what i did. you gotta explain to them from the very beginning that ur an avid hunter/fisherman, and that certain times of the year you will be doing those things. my fiance knew that and decided to try hunting herself. although not nearly as serious about it as i am she is enjoying it and has even said that she would like to start bowhunting as well.

Megan knew that hunting was my life when we met 10+ years ago. No surprises there.

I don't know if I would want her hunting with me though. Hunting is my thing...she has her's.
