No proof. But some evidence that it is possible. The next test that they are tying is injecting mice with the prions. That will be a better indicator I belive. I have to be honest. If CWD was much more prevalent, I would be concerned. But, as it stands, something like 0.02% (I'm too lazy to look up the actual %) of deer have tested positive for CWD in Wisconsin and only in the southern part of the state. I luckily enough don't hunt in that area. I'll take my chances. http://www.jsonline.com/features/health/115246649.html
We have a LARGE populous that the CWD for a couple years would actually probably benefit if we can figure out how to cure it after that couple year run to get them back down to "normal" sized. :D Seriously though, everything I've ever read said that it wasn't transmittable to humans, this is a little concerning that now they believe it may be..... The study wasn't funded by PETA or HSUS was it???
I wouldn't put it past them to purposely infect animals with CWD to stop hunters from hunting them. Personally I'd much rather get shot than have a protein "worm" eat my brain away.
