Well this past Saturday I was at a restaurant that I used to work at eating, and in came a group of hunters decked out in team realtree apparel. The first person that I recognized was Bill Jordan, and I was awestruck. I live in a small town with only about 2500 people, so theres never really anything exciting that goes on. Well along with Bill Jordan were NASCAR drivers Martin Truex Jr. and **** Trickle. I talked to them for a little while, and it turned out that they were hunting at an outfitter about 20 min away. Everyone was really nice, and it was a pretty cool experience. I got to show them deer that my Dad and I have killed in the past, and hear about their experiences so far this year. Just thought I'd share!
Pretty awesome! I got to meet Brian Holloway yesterday. He played in the pro-bowl for the Patriots in the 80's. Apparently im related to him.
It's always nice to meet some hunting "celebrities" and find out how they're just a bunch of regular hunters like anyone else. Whereabouts in IL were you at?
I live in Central IL about an hour north of Springfield in a small town called Oakford. They were hunting in another small town called Chandlerville at Timberland Outfitters. It's pretty close to site M or whats now called Jim Edgar Panther Creek Park.
Yeah, I know where Chandlerville is. Hunted with a buddy down there a few years ago. GREAT spot if you can find some private ground that's not controlled by outfitters. Some slammer bucks have come from that Cass/Menard area.
Yea I live right one the border of Cass/Menard. I haven't been fortunate to catch one of those bucks, but you can see the one I just posted in a thread, and my Dad shot a non-typical that scored 192 and change net.
That's cool that you get to meet them like that. I hear that Jordan is pretty down to earth. I actually like his videos along w/Wadell's stuff.
Cool, awesome that you got to talk to those guys. I used to love on ESPN when they would report on a Nascar race. They would always talk about the top finishers and then they would say "and **** Trickle finished 37th."
Sweet, it's always cool to meet some of our celebs. I met Waddell recently. I was pretty cool to see that he was a normal guy, and he also has the WORST hick accent I have ever heard.
