    While doing a little quick research for a thread reply today, i cam across Brett Favre's yearly fantasy rankings. Albeit, Fantasy rankings dont show how good a player is at finishing games, winning, and that sort of thing...but it does show how well you rank up against your peers statically. And usually, QB's with good stats are on winning/successful teams.

    Here is the rank Favre finished within the QB community for every year he has played:

    1991.......71
    1992.......7
    1993.......7
    1994.......2
    1995.......1
    1996.......1
    1997.......1
    1998.......3
    1999.......6
    2000.......10
    2001.......4
    2002.......11
    2003.......7
    2004.......5
    2005.......14
    2006.......11
    2007........8
    2008.......14

    So these ranking show that Favre has never been STATISTICALLY worse then 14th in the NFL as a starter (2005, 2008). It also shows that he was the best 3 times (His MVP years 1995, 1996, 1997) and that he has had plenty of success this decade (Average of 10th place), including 4 years in the top 10 (2001, 2003, 2004, 2007).

    Knowing the STATISCAL side of things, would you still want him as your QB? And did the Vikings make the right choice?

    Over the last four years, he averages right around the #11 ranked QB....still in the upper 1/3 of the league's starting QB's

    I would have him on my team any day...he earned the right to play where he wants..i just really DIS like the vikings a lot...but i can see where brett is coming from...but something tells me something 'bad' is going to come from this decision...idk what, but i have a 'gut' feeling...

    I don't want him on my team. The Packers didnt go out of their way to bring him back, the Jets didn't want him back.. that should tell us something.

    Elite:

    Peyton Manning IND;
    Tom Brady NE;
    Ben Roethlisberger PIT;
    Drew Brees NO;
    Kurt Warner ARI;

    Good:

    Aaron Rodgers GB;
    Eli Manning NYG;
    Carson Palmer CIN;
    Phillip Rivers SD;
    Donovan McNabb PHI;
    Jay Cutler CHI;
    Tony Romo DAL;
    Matt Ryan ATL;

    Average:

    Joe Flacco BAL;
    Chad Pennington MIA;
    Matt Cassel KC;

    Mediocre:

    Marc Bulger STL;
    Matt Hasselbeck SEA;
    Jake Delhomme CAR;
    David Garrard JAX;

    Terrible/new/looking to be replaced:

    Trent Edwards BUF;
    Mark Sanchez NYJ;
    Matt Stafford DET;
    Brady Quinn CLE;
    Jason Campbell WAS;
    Kerry Collins TN;
    Matt Schaub HOU;
    Luke McCown TB;
    Kyle Orton DEN;
    Shaun Hill SF;
    JaMarcus Russell OAK;

    If you look at this quick list i made of the starting QB's in the NFL this year, where would you put Favre? He is better then all the "average" quarterbacks, but below the "elite" obviously.

    "Good" is the perfect fit IMO

    Personally I think you have Big Ben and Philip Rivers overrated I'd knock each of them down one, but I'd put Favre in the good list

    Yeah I know but still I just don't think he is on an elite level. I understand the argument though.

    I understand yours too,

    His career Qb rating is 89, and he has 3 years with a QB rating over 98,

    Look at 2007 for my reasoning :D

    The Super Bowl rings do help the argument though.

    The name Dan Marino comes to mind. Just proves it isnt ALL about the rings.

    I'd agree with that. Just think Marino is an all time great even without rings.

    That he is, top 5 by default,

    My list,

    #1 Montana (4 Super Bowls, 2 MVP's)
    #2 Favre (1 Super Bowl, 3 MVP's)
    #3 Manning (1 Super Bowl, 3 MVP's)
    #4 Marino (MVP)
    #5 Elway (2 Super Bowls, MVP)
    #6 Tom Brady (3 Super Bowls, MVP)
    #7 Steve Young (Super Bowl, 2 MVP's)
    #8 Kurt Warner (Super Bowl, 2 MVP's)

    Guys like Johnny U and Otto Graham are too old school for me, they were the greats of their era....

    Old, Old and Old :D

    Griese was good, but statistically couldn't compare to the guys on my list

    Same deal with Bradshaw, but he could win (with his defense:o), thats for sure ;)

    Staubach? Put him at #9 :D
