It could be a billion year old planet and still be created. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not that I or anyone really knows the age, but why? You act like that is just a decade or two lol. I think both religious nuts and scientists claim to know far more than they actually do. There is a level of faith involved with both fields.
I see Nye's quotes and videos on FB all the time...I like him a lot. I'll watch this debate, but only to hear more of Ham's nonsense.
Correct. Science whack jobs try to convince to believe they have it all figured out until they change their minds and have to add a few more billion years to make their new discovery plausible. I remember as a kid when they adjusted the age of the universe from 5bil to 6bil. We only use a fraction of our brain so imagine a being using a 100% of it. I believe the mystery of the universe is above our pay grade as well it should be because we couldn't handle the truth. But that's me. You guys ever watch this? What the bleep. Through the rabbit hole. Watched it years ago and it showed how our thought could change the outcome of how molecules react. To me it proved the power of prayer. My source is common sense and the ability to look at the world with an open mind. How did kangaroos get to the Australian continent from somewhere in middle Asia 4000 years go? How do we explain all the skulls of human type beings all over the world? Ham said last night god created heaven and earth. Science says the earth is 4.5 billion years old due to asteroids they have measured, not from any earth rock. He's correct, but if god created the heavens(universe) should the asteroids not be 4000 years old also? Nye missed this point in the debate. Also for hams side, he's correct science can not explain how we came to be, why are we so smart, how did we get a conscious? I still believe god created man, I don't believe the earth was created like it states in the Old Testament.
Well I'm sure God placed all them fossils in the ground of creatures which never existed according to the bible just to try to fool us.
I will agree that a debate like this is not going to change anyone's mind. As far as I'm concerned, the Bible has a lot to offer us and is worth studying. But the facts are in and scientific research wins out over a book written about 3.000 years ago by people who thought the earth was flat. Nobody doing research in a scientific field is trying to prove or disprove the existence of God. The goal is merely to find the facts about our universe and life. And I must disagree with the all too common assertion that scientists are all atheists whose only goal is to disprove God. Many people who do science research are believers, although, understandably, not necessarily fundamentalists. My mother raised me to believe and practice even though there is no temple or shrine of our religion within a thousand miles. After I married, I adopted the Catholic faith, but I haven't abandoned the religion in which my mother raised me. My faith in a Creator and in a spiritual world is very, very strong.
I watched it last night and this sums up the entire debate. It was ridiculous. Every time Ham spoke, it was nothing more than an infomercial for his museum or website.
Ugh. I wasn't going to get into this...again, but this kinda nonsense just pisses me off. This is how idiocracy happens. If you watched the debate, Nye implored everyone to go out and disprove any and all scientific theories or laws. That is what science is all about. DISCOVERY! Not just saying "Oh that seems too complicated, I'll just say God made it and move on" NO! You are just choosing to be willfully ignorant! This kind of thinking is horrifying to me. That instead of trying to understand something, we just put "God" in there and call it done? This is what we should be teaching our youth? Really? To not ask questions? To not strive for new discoveries? To not advance the knowledge of mankind? For **** sakes man!
