About a month ago I bought the Moultrie I40 camera right here from Bowhunting.com and have been very happy with it. I mean, it's not the camera's fault it's taken pictures of everything under the sun except deer. That would be operator failure, until today. :D Is it just me, or does the left G2 grow straight across this guy's rack and poke out between the G2 and 3 on the right side? I also believe this buck to be only 1 1/2 so he should be a real stud in a couple years. And for good measure I tossed in a picture of doe and fawn because well........I just wouldn't be me w/out a doe or two.
I thought that as well, but when we blew the picture up pretty big it really does look like a point growing off of the beam......I'm still not completely sure, though. Hopefully I'll see this guy from the stand this fall and put that question to rest. I could be wrong though, ya'll may be right. You think he's 2 1/2? Man I dunno........Could be I guess, obviously.......He just looks too long and lanky and not defined enough to be 2 1/2.......But, I've been wrong before.
I'd say its his left main beam with an optical illusion, cuz he was on the go by the looks of things! I would say too much mass and too bulky of shoulders to be a 1 1/2 old....just my 2 cents
You are in the MW, Don ... he could be a 1.5 .... in NY, that guy would be 2.5 all day ... maybe a 3.5
I agree its his main beam and that its a 1.5 yo buck. I hunt the same county as Don and thats what most of the 1.5's i see look like.
i would say thats a 1.5 y/o around here. Although I have seen smaller, either way he will be a stud at 4.5!! Yeah, My guess is thats the main beam with some ghosty imaging cause he was movin
Well, the overwhelming majority say this is indeed the main beam. And I will tell you that's what I thought as well. But...... My buddy has a 22" HD monitor which allows the photo to be pretty big. And, it's a 4mp camera so a bigger picture isn't blurred out. That is, without a doubt, an odd point growing directly before what would be his G2 and growing across the rack. Looking at it on that monitor was fairly easy to see where it's growing, and it covers the rest of the main beam on that side. And, I could cleary see it covering the base of his G3 on the right side. But hey, this isn't really worth arguing over, it's a damn buck and I got a picture of him........FINALLY! I've had this camera out for a month and gotten pictures of groundhogs, racoons, coyotes, fox squirrels, woodcock, red fox......everything but a deer. And, what's really cool is it's taken nearly 900 pictures on the original batteries and they're still showing 96%. That's impressive. Anywho, ya'll carry on and enjoy the holiday weekend.! :D
I would say 2.5 on this deer based on his front shoulders and not as much upward sweep in his stomach area. If he is in fact a 1.5...WOW, he will be a stud in a couple of years. I too think it's just the angle of the shot, and it's actually his main beam, but I'm sure you'll let us know when you get another pic or see him.
