This is one of the better looking 8 points that I have seen on this particular property in some time. To me he doesn't look to be any older than 3.5 years old. His body just doesn't seem to have the size of an older deer and he seems to lack a little in the mass department. Right now I put him in the 135" - 140" range. What are your thoughts? Old deer? Young deer? I'm really thinking that with another year or two of growth I could have a legitimate 150" - 160" 8 point on my hands!!!! Am i off base here?? Thoughts????

I'd have no problem flinging an arrow at him now but in a year or two he could be a BRUISER!

What a nice deer Chris. He can only get bigger...he has to survive though. What sort of pressure is in the area? If you think he'll make another year, then what do you have to lose?

I would shoot him. I shot his brother in Minnesota on the 18th of sept. Nice deer. IMHO he is 4 1/2.

The face picture makes him look a little aged, but the last pic makes him look a bit younger.. hard to tell without dentition. Either way, he's a nice looking deer.

He is a toughy to age. He could be either 3.5 or 4.5 . He has the shorter, stout body of a 3.5 year old but he just seems to have too much rack for a 3.5 year old except for mass. Either way.. a great buck !!!

What an awesome Buck! I would love to see what he looks like next year even if it was only mass he put on.

Will, he won't be pressured much at all if he stays in the general area of where this pic was taken. My in-laws own the land and will be shotgun hunting at the end of the week but that's it. Only the three of us ever lay foot on this parcel. However, with the amount of gun hunters that will be in the timber this week if he gets off our 200 acres he probably won't make in long at all!

I'd shoot him. He looks like a 3.5 to me his chest looks to shallow to be a 4.5 and he has pretty flat nose still.

If I had the shot I would take it now, but thats just me. I think if you end up waiting till next year, boy that deer will be a dandy.

He will definately make it off the 200 acres. I also dont think he will stay an 8 in the future. His right beam already looks like another point was trying to grow out the end.

This is a Scott county deer. I don't currently have any property to hunt in Morgan county. I wish I did now that it's getting dark so early I don't have time to get over to Scott county after work!!!!

He would not make it another year with me. I am still looking for my first Pope & Young so if he came by me I would have to shoot! Very nice deer and due to the size in the mass I think he is a little young yet too. BUT like I said if he came by me I would have to put my hands on him!

oh no chris, he is bigger than that. My brother has an 8 that gross's 141 and he is bigger than that. I'm guessing mid 140's if not pushing 150. I would smoke that deer in a heart beat!

Im not so sure. My dad has an 8 on the wall that grosses 134 and they look to around the same size. He just lacks the mass. My dads buck has the same problem.
