Having to deal with one for the first time in my life was a fun experience. Some how I put a hole in my trailers roof, not sure when or where, but I did do it. I filed a claim with my insurance company and for the first week I felt I could handle this task on my own. My insurance company has many commercials telling me how great at service they are, well that prove to not be true. Here is my advice for those who have not dealt with them yet. 1. Keep a log, write down every interaction, phone call, pictures sent, documents sent and dot every I. 2. Ask your attorney for his advice, for example I did not know you have a year to file a claim, that was good info it turned out. 3. Be relentless in keeping them on task 4. Be polite, no need to get mad, finished every call or meeting with "thanks for your help" 5. Don't be afraid to have your attorney on a call with you, they do catch items you miss. 6. If(and I did because of the log) catch them in a lie, don't call them out, get them back on track with your claim and help them get the info they need to keep moving forward. That's it, yesterday a check was issued for 7200 and some change and roof is fixed. Only took 26 days
I recently had the pleasure of dealing with all three credit reporting agencies and a credit card company that screwed up my credit by misreporting. Took 30 days of being a relentless sob to get them all to comply. Not fun. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I deal with insurance companies on a daily basis. Any adjusters objective with most insurance company is to deny, delay and underpay. It really boils down to knowing policy language, codes ect.. I can tell which companies are worth having a policy with and the ones to steer clear of. If you qualify for USAA, get it. They take care of a policyholder better than anyone out there, fact. And they have a streamlined claim system that makes everybodies job much easier. I can tell you that you should never trust a lizard hocking insurance and you not be in as good of hands as you think.. oh, and Flo might save you a little money but that's bc you have no coverage.
Like casinos in a big shiny building they are in the business of paying out less than they take in and don't really care if your service is compromised.
You really have the audacity to assume my attorney is a male? Really? Why discriminate and assume my attorney isn't a female?! Obviously kidding (sad we live in a world where people actually get triggered by things like that). But my main question. Do people really have their own attorneys? When people say that, do you have a specific attorney you consult with or is it just a general statement (yes I am naive for not knowing this at 29 year old). I've never had to consult an attorney so I have no clue what people mean when they say that.
I apologize, lol Yes I have my "own" attorney that handles my estate planning, we just change a few things last week. Also if I have situations come up like the above he's available. You guys would love him, he's a Trump love'n, gun toting SOB, he's an ass also(which makes him a great attorney), we were neighbors growing up.
Geico sucks! Thats all I'll say about that. My current insurance company I am very happy with though.
Well if the lawyer thing is the case Germ, then I have my own grocery store, liquor store, gas station, accounting firm, investment banker etc.
Guess who just received a worse rating from the insurance sector? Guess who is going to see premiums rise in the near future?
I can tell you from experience that I loathe handling Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Safeco and Oklahoma Farm Bureau claims and have just walked away from some, let the rookies and desperadoes handle those head knockers. However, State Farm, USAA and Farmers Mutual are always a pleasure. They are all a pain in the a$$ but the latter listed companies just expect you to be forthright and they generally tend to be the same.
I've got someone that my parents have dealt with for anything they've ever needed that I can call. So I guess in a roundabout way, yes. Dealt with a couple different lawyers buying my farmland and they were all a bunch of dinks.
I guess this is just a sterling example of how opinions and experiences differ, but I've always said Geico was the best insurance I have ever had. I've always recommended them, but I guess everyone has had different experiences. Progressive is the only one I wouldn't ever go to again.
That is true and I think its the luck of the draw. In my situation I met my then girl friend, now wife at a service station. It was going to be awhile before they got around to putting the tires on her car so I gave her the keys to my truck to go home. A guy comes around the corner of the service station parking lot looking inside for someone as she is backing out he runs into my truck. She was completely on the other side of the store so he had plenty of time to notice her backing out but she could see him because of other vehicles. The guy is begging me not to report the accident because he doesn't have a drivers license. Long story short the police show up and take statements but say its an insurance matter because it was in a parking lot. He must have been lying about his license as when the police showed up he produced one. In his statement to the police he tells them he was not watching where he was going. I got the police report number and when I called GEICO I gave it to them. When I take the truck in for an estimate for repair the guy says its funny the other vehicle is here too for estimate. I asked why and he said that GEICO was going to fix it. huh? So I call the insurance company and the person I talk to tells me that he told them he was not at fault and because she was backing they sided with him. Understandable but no one ever told me this was going to happen. I then ask them if they got the police report and they said no if I wanted it included I would need to get it and fax it to the insurance company. I did that with in the hour of calling them. I call back the next day to make sure they got it. They had but then say it doesn't matter because it won't go to litigation because she was backing. I ask to escalate it and eventually they sent the letter to the other party that they will not be repairing their car. Apparently his license was suspended for several DUIs and it wasn't his car either. Long story short it was the only time I needed them and I felt like I was doing their job. To top it off I get a nasty gram from them after it was settled about not letting people drive my vehicle. Understandable but I dropped them that day and switch to my current company. Granted that was almost 20 years ago. With my current company I talk to the same people every time and with three kids had to use them a few times.
as a claims adjuster myself, the worst thing you can do is reference your call log/be snotty ive got 500 people just like you calling me daily, people who are polite and patient get my priority, people who are "on this date at this time i..." sometimes those files get "misplaced" for a week or so. throwing out the "my attorney" line makes us laugh. most of the time an attorney is a waste of your money/time. we could care less if you have an attorney and it doesnt effect in anyway how things are handled. in fact, more often than not a good adjuster is MORE knowledgeable than whatever back of the phone boom attorney you have who doesnt care about your claim. also understand a lot of things are out of the control of your adjuster, we cant control the guy who writes the estimate, or if you provide it we cant control the desk audit time frame, also at least half the time your shop is run by a giant dbag that makes things take way longer than need to. to say all this there can be a 1st party cause of action on bad faith, but those are so few and far between in reality we are not out to deny or underpay as okie said, we pay on visible damage or acv, often we know there will be a supplement to an estimate but until its documentable/visible we wont pay it as its your duty to prove it. easiest example on this, appears minor damage, remove bumper cover and see additionally damage, we cant pay that until its visible. this is why im so glad i dont do these pd claims anymore where people think they know things, i handle auto losses that involve catastrophic injuries/deaths
the only people who are better at moving your file to the back of the pile than law firms are insurance companies.
It’s amazing how our capitalistic society has made “screwing people out of money” the #1 business model. Honestly how do insurance agents live with themselves? You are literally terrible people ruining other people’s lives...lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
