If you type in the state name+game department (For instance: Iowa Game and Fish Department) it should give you the access to whatever you need. Each state Game Department has their own separate website.

    Google my friend.

Just off the top of my head I know Iowa is $426 for a nonresident. Most units can be drawn with 0 or 1 preference points.

It will take you three to four years to draw an Iowa tag so next season is definitely not an option there. Missouri and Illinois both have over the counter tags I believe. Access in Illinois is probably difficult without paying. All states have good web sites that will tell you everything you need to know.

For a bow tag, it will take you more like three or four years to get in a decent zone.

Kansas has a draw, you have to apply in april or may, cant remember which, for $332. I actually bought a leftover tag in June last year but those go quick. Iowa is a draw as well, but like said before, takes a few years to get drawn for bow in the sought after zones. Ohio, Indiana, Missouri are over the counter tags with reasonable prices( compared to Kansas, Iowa and Illinois). But you have to pay to play.

Missouri is cheaper then Illinois, but both are fairly easy to get as they are both OTC. I think Illinois runs about 65-70 for the hunting license, then 425 I think for an any deer tag, then 25 for antlerless only. Missouri runs 225 for 2 deer and 2 turkey together. So Missouri is really the better deal. You can also get antlerless only tags for 25. Iowa is a pain in the butt to draw. You have to apply for preference points every year, think they cost 52, then depending on which zone you want to hunt, takes 2-4 points to draw a tag. The tag them selves will cost an additional 426 for a any deer and antlerless tags. Also 125 for a non-res hunting license.

So out of these 3 states, Missouri is def. the cheapest. I dont think they require you to buy a hunting license, only the archery permit, but dont quote me on that. Iowa is crazy expensive. Iowa resident fees are a little high to me. I hunt Iowa and Illinois usually, but next year will be hunting Missouri also with my dad. I hunt doe only in Illinois so it does not cost me too much. I buy a hunting license every year for Illinois for dove and coon hunting any ways.

There are no deer left in Missouri :)

There are hundreds of conservation areas in the state that you can hunt on. Most have some type of special regulations, but most allow bowhunting. You can use this atlas to find conservation areas in the vicinity of where you want to hunt.

Conservation Atlas | Main Search | Atlas Database version 2.0

Mark Twain National Forest also allows hunting. It's 1.4 million acres of forest land that is free to access and hunt.

I'm sure there are some other options, but this should give you some food for thought.

It costs a lot more than $426 to get a Iowa non resident tag. You have to buy a bunch of tags for different things to get your buck tag. Price is over $600 and drawing is not easy. I did not even drAw a muzzleloader tag with no points.

To get a Iowa archery tag in a good zone you are looking at least 3 years and around $800 counting what you spend on preference points.

Yea, I would agree on average for a good zone you need 2 points if you are lucky, and 3 to probably draw and 4 for a sure thing.
