Thinking of switching to Tenergy Nimh batteries and I'm wondering if anyone has tried them. Trailcampro.com sells an 8-pack for $20. I'm mostly wondering how they compare with alkaline on one charge. Alkaline last 8-9 months (Bushnell). If I'd have to charge them every month or two they wouldn't work for me.

If alkaline will last 8-9 months. why bother all i am saying is my rayovac batterys are 12.77 for 36 of them or home depot has them for 15.00 for 48 I dont see the need for the cost of the tenergy batts for as many cams as i have then the charger system.

That what I was thinking, if you're getting 8-9 months why switch. I think the Tenergy only last for a couple years max if I'm not mistaken! I paid $7.20 for a 20 pack of AA Duracells at Menards the other day, cant beat that!

Was thinking they last more then 2 years how could they advertise 1000 recharges on them and main reason would be they also last longer in cold weather. Anyway just wondering if anyone's tried them thanks for the responses.

I'm running them right now in 3 cameras. They are working just fine. I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000 pictures in one of my M-80 since I put them in. The only drawback I have found is that the battery meter doesn't read them properly. It only read about 46% when I installed them fully charges, and after 4000 pictures, I think it read somewhere around 34% left. Obviously this isn't the correct ratio, but I think that is more of a firmware issue with my camera than it is anything to do with the batteries.

FYI, you can buy them way cheaper here.

FYI, I'm using the Premium 2500 mAh.

I have less than $100 invested in 48 AA's and one of the premium chargers.

One of the reasons to consider rechargables is the impact manufacturing batteries has on the environment, using the same battery over and over, instead of a single time use make sense to me.

If you only have a couple of cameras then switching to rechargeables is probably not cost effective. But if you are running 7-8 cameras or more, those rechargeables pay for themselves in no time. I'm using all rechargheables now (15 cams) and I would never go back. Tenergys are some of the best you can buy. If you buy them, go with the 2500s.

I also use the T energy batteries. You can look at site posted earlier all battery.com and you can get assorted sets with chargers. I use the AA, AAA, C, and 9 volt. I change them when I check my cameras, The longest I will leave a camera is about 3 weeks. Since I charge them I do not care if they are not run down. The reason your battery life viewer is not showing the correct charge could be the fact that the rechargeable batteries are generally 1.2 volts. The ones you are buying off the shelf are probabley 1.5 volts. When I got to buying $40.00 a month in batteries I stopped using them and went to rechargable. I have never had great battery life from off the counter batteries.

I've only been using them for about a year so I can't say about the two year time frame. I sometimes get 500 pics in a week and in the white-flash cameras, that's about all they'll do. But in the IR cams they will last more than a month, depending upon the picture count of course. I am partial to white-flash cams so of course they use much more power so it was really expensive using regular batteries.

Most of the cameras I have use the AA and C rechargeable. I use Camtrakker Mk10 also that have their own 6 volt rechargeable battery. I have cameras that get 150-250 pictures a week. I have never made a list of my cameras but I should and here it is
    Camtrakker MK10 6

Camtrakker with removeable digital cameras like todays HBrew 7
Home brew made by others 4
home brews made by me 2
Plot watcher which eats batteries 1
Stealth cam which I need to start using again 1

    I have retired 2 wildview, 1 leaf river, 1 camtrakker 35mm

Next on the list to get is a Covert 80 IR never enough cameras. that is why the name Cam Fan

I need more batteries and cards right now and have decided to check one area come home recharge and format cards and go back out later.
