    Hello,
I would like to communicate with other bowhunters who are aware of the late season bowhunt in area 2-B in northern New Mexico the first two weeks of January. I am aware that this late season hunt is after the rut, and also the season's length of two weeks is a far better opportunity for hunting than the usuasl 5 day seasons allowed in New Mexico. Since the area's boundaries are the Jicarilla Apache reservation, the Colorado border and Navajo lake this late season, even with all the snow at 8,000+ elevation, should be an good opportunity for high quality Mule deer bucks.

I could not get in that area this year, but would appreciate any and all information any serious bowhunter would care to share with me about this late season hunt.

    Thank You,

    Gene So.

There were some big bucks taken in 2b this year for the January tags. The big big bucks are in unit 2C. It is definitely a fun hunt. I have had to 2A tag the past two years and its a lot of fun. It's not uncommon to have to make a long shot though, I would be comfortable with at least a 90 yard shot. It is really hard to sneak up on deer with crunchy snow under your feet.
