Yeah that sucks about the temps. Its giving us a much needed soaking here right now! Cant wait for that first frost!
Know what ya mean there Dan. Sent my brother out to a blind I made in a fallen tree yesterday for youth season. I had been seein a really nice 8 point in that spot for several days. He was on his way home by 4:30 cause he was completely cover in turkey ticks. Come on frost.
Anyone having any luck yet!? I was going to try and get down to the southwest over the weekend but the rain and kids kept me at home, no worries. This weekend I'm planning on heading down to Ohio county to hunt all weekend.
I've been out a couple of times. I think it was a little too warm on opening day and Sunday evening it was very windy. I'll be going out this weekend, so hopefully they'll be moving a little better.
I hunted our place in Ohio county opening weekend. Saw lots of decent doe movement right at dark and early in the morning. None of them presented much of a shot though. Most of the bucks on our place are nocturnal and I haven't had a daytime pic of any good bucks since they shed velvet.
Hey guys I need to get my vacation planned. Any thoughts between the first and second week of November? Opinions?
I think the first week of November should be a pretty good spot! I have a few days off that week myself - as long as you get out before the fastly approaching gun opener you will be in great shape!
What county are you in that has Urban, Im up in Northwest Indiana and they started urban last season, been out a few times this year but havent seen alot of action yet.
Was gonna let everyone know I found the first full fledge scrape. Not talking just some pawing and a little dirt kicked up. This was about a 4 foot wide spot under a big oak branch along a field edge. The buck tore the ground up...it's coming guys...they're starting to get very very antsy....tickling the horns a touch may yield some results here soon.
Gotta agree.. found a bunch of fresh scrapes yesterday back in the woods close to the doe bedding areas. These are primary scrapes.. By Next weekend I think we will see buck movement more during the daylight...
Same here.. I was out last night and found three monster scrapes all within 25 yards of each other. Rubs are starting to pop up everywhere! The farmers finally started dropping the corn!
I'm determined to make it out there before this weekend before this cold snap comes and goes. Seems everytime the weekend hits the temperature climbs in Warrick County.
Im also finding scrapes, seeing plenty of Deer to. Havent seen a shooter yet, biggest has been an 8 around 105" . There tearing up a mock scrape I put in. I have had some close calls with Does but no shot yet. Hope to end that this eve. good luck my fellow Hoosiers!
