I was raised in Northeast Indiana and just moved back after 10 years in Arizona and Virginia. I am very excited about this up coming season. I just bought a bow last week and have been dialing it in. It has been 10 years since I have bow hunted.
Johnson county here, just south of Indianapolis. This will be my first year of hunting, can't wait to get out there!!!
How many Hoosiers will be in the stand this morning. Im still stuck at work so it wont be til this afternoon. Good luck and stay safe out there.
How's everyone's season turning out? Had another question... I'm going to be putting in browse plots/trails through a couple of our properties for next early late winter. What are you guys having luck with and what seems to be the best perennial for the less accessible areas? They will be properly worked and watered.
It looks like there are alot of Hoosiers here. I might be in the wrong part! I just started school at Purdue University in the fall this past year and after seeing some of the deer that are posted on Geneo's Hunting in Lafayette I want to get in the stand. Being from Massachusetts we don't grow deer like you do here. I was wondering if anyone hunts around the lafayette area and how is the hunting. Also if it hard to get permission from people? Back home people aren't really into hunters. Thanks Everybody.
I know this is kinda last minute and this thread doesn't get hit much. But I am heading to Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge this sunday on a muzzleloader hunt. I've never been there and don't know much about. Anyone have any insight or tips about the place. Thanks
Are u guys pretty upset that they now allow rifles in private property. It's always a shotgun state with iowa, Ohio,Illinois, and the south half of Minnesota. It don't surprise me. Qdmas gonna receive more yearling buck harvest from Indiana.
12 ga Shotgun. 2 1/2 8pt 300yds. He gets to grow for next year hes too far. 30-06rifle .2 1/2 8pt 300yds. Droped in sight.
Modern muzzleloaders and even good rifled shotguns from a proficient hunter have been already dropping deer at 200+ yards (300 for some) for years already....the idiots are always present whether they have a bow, crossgun or a shotgun...now or a rifle.
I'm in Jay County. I've been seeing quite a few deer, but no mature bucks on my properties. Plenty of does and young bucks.
I went out last Sunday morning in Whitley county. I saw 11 does but zero bucks. This is my first year with this property. I was just checking out the activity in the woods. I will be back in the stand in the morning if the weather holds off.
I took some vacation time this week. I will have Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for my all day sits. Now I just have to track the wind and plan out my hunts.
I think the boss has an appointment in the morning so I may be able to sneak out in the a.m. til 930 or so... There's not a whole lot going on right now so my days are pretty slow.
How many hoosiers didnt see many deer this year? MY son has only seen a doe with 2 yearlings and thats been it.
