Any of the local folks planning on going? They added an extra day this year, so it runs Thursday through Sunday. I see Fred Eichler is going to be there on Saturday and he is someone I'd like to meet. Also, the Beck Buck will be the center piece on the Hoosier Buck Wall of Fame this year. I've never been to the Illinois version, but the Indiana Expo is part of the Boat, Sport and Travel show, so that adds some to the size of the event. The Expo Hall at the State Fairgrounds, where the Expo takes place, is 70,000 square feet.
I will be in attendance but I'm not sure what day yet. I'll probably get some stuff from Muddy and play with all the duck calls. The big wall of deer is pretty cool. I didn't get a letter to take mine this year though. I only spend a few minutes looking at it. I've seen guys stand there hours before. I just don't have the patience for that.
I usually go on Sunday hoping for a lighter crowd, and maybe some deals before the folks pack up. As much as I'd like to meet Mr. Eichler, I'm not sure if that is enough motivation for me to go on Saturday.
My brother got a crazy good deal on a full muddy setup on Sunday a little later in the day. We usually take the kids, they get a kick out of it. Last year they had ther water skiing squirrel. It didn't so much know how to ski as much as it didn't want to die. Pretty funny to watch in a sick kind of way.
I'm going to be there on Saturday. I'm already counting down the days! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I plan on being there on Sunday. If anyone from the forum will be there, shoot me a PM and maybe we can meet up.
I had a great time at the Expo today. I bought some stuff for my climbing stand from Third Hand Archery. I bought a Mathews hoodie for the wife. I met Tim Beck, very humble guy considering the deer he had on the wall. I attended Fred Eichler's elk hunting seminar which ignited a fire to make it out west soon. I had a chance to meet Fred and chat with him afterwards. I felt like a little kid meeting one of his favorite baseball players... Here is the Beck Buck, pictures don't do it justice...
