A little help with this one. I found this today and it's definitely man made and big. I have no idea what it could have been used for.
I'm either blind or stupid, but I can't see where you posted my pic on the forum. I don't have Facebook so that's a no go.
I talked to a local historian today and he said it could possibly be a big carving of a bird. He wants to take a closer look at it to confirm. FYI the number 7 doesn't point down
Ahem...you were saying... I don't think it's a seven anyway, I think it's supposed to be an eight, it's just that they got started and realized how stupid damn hard it is to carve an "eight" out of stone so they made it look like a "seven".
I've seen a few fish hooks over the years they made from stone and/or bone, maybe it's a fish hook. I still think it looks like a gut hook. That indian was way ahead of his time, it must have gutted many a mammoth because it looks pretty dull.
I could see a goose or duck or something...seems like a lot of work for a decoy that sinks though lol
My money is on natural formation. I hope for you that I am wrong. But, I have found some crazy shaped rocks while artifact hunting. Running or dripping water does amazing things to rock over hundreds of years.
Natural?! Pffttt!! I bet its one of the tools the ancients used to build pyramids...it's a skyhook! They tied those onto huge kites and then flew the blocks into place. This is one that got away and drifted all the way to North America.
