my biggest problem is my indecision to be able to quickly assess a given hunting situation and pick a tree to set up in. am I to picky, or am I loosing my mind? I have a summit goliath so I know what kind of trees work best for me, but as we all know the best tree isn't always the best place to be. sometimes I'll walk in a circle for a half hour, examining the trails, sign and searching for that perfect tree. I think maybe I out think the situation most of the time. it's like a tug of war in my head. the two guys on my shoulders.."hey there's a good tree" the other says "WHAT are you crazy?" you'll never get a shot from there and the other says"what about the wind?" then the other says..... the whole thing just seems extreme, like I'm burning up some crucial time standing there thinking. anybody else get like this?
Since I am nearly scared to death of climbers, I have the luxury of not having this problem But don't overthink yourself, deer hunting is only as complicated as you make it. Trust your skills and what you know. You'll be surprised at how true your intution can prove to be.
That,Sir...is great advice and how I approached this season. I looked at my stands and decided what wind they could tolerate. Last year I was micro managing everything I did. This year I hunted and trusted my woodsmanship more and did tons less over analyzing!
Ha its werid that you bring this up..i went out with a buddy last night, first time in this woods...he gave me a low down on the woods and where i should go. I got in there...i bet i looked around for about 15 20 minutes..just looking at tree to tree..like , " should i go there..no ...should go there....no..haha..then evenually i found what i was looking for ..I just keep the wind into consideration, and hope everything works out as planned
