After many years of recurve shooting I've decided to try compound. As I site / dial in my bow...do I need to make adjustments when using broad heads vs field tips? I'm reading as much as I can before the compound is in my hands.

Thanks in advance for any replies and recommendations.

BTW, I'm in Rockland County, NY

You should sight your bow in using the broadheads that you'll hunt with. I've been told that if a bow is in perfect tune it should shoot field points and broadheads exactly the same, but I've never experienced it. My broadheads shoot very different than fieldpoints.

I have never had any differences with my field points from my broadheads shooting. Since your new to compound, I would focus on tuning it with broadheads since the seasons have already started.

    Ditto.

Find a broadhead you like (I'd stay away from mechanicals for now anyways) whether it be Slicks, G5, or whatever and sight in with it for now if you intend to hunt. When the season ends, forget you ever sighted in to broadheads and find a broadhead tuning guide and follow it, you should then be able to get your Broadheads (any broadhead in theory) and Fieldtips to fly together before next season

If you have the time (it doesn't take too much time) I would at least paper tune the bow first, then if there is a different I would do as others said and sight in with the broadheads. Just make sure the arrows are flying true.
