Eastern panhandle of Wv. has had quite the few bears spottings recently. My father is in jefferson county and had 1 in his back yard on july 2nd. Another bear was spotted on the university property on security camera a few weeks ago, about 5 miles from my fathers house as the crow flies. Another 1 was seen about 500 yds from my house a week ago. this morning as my GF pulls into the parking lot of the Post office she works at. the space she pulls into is at the back of the lot and faces the back yard of a house and about 10 feet from her car she said was a black bear. by the time she got her camera out to take a picture it moved away from her car. Any one else seeing a increase in bear's in there area from previous years?
As long as they dont bother anyone or thing I dont mind them. I havent seen much of an increase in va or nc in my areas.
I don't think it is as much as populations are incresing that much. I think we are seeing them more due to them becoming more comfortable around humans. I am seeing quite a few in my clover plot. http://forums.bowhunting.com/trail-cameras/49861-more-fawns-bear-cubs.html http://forums.bowhunting.com/trail-cameras/49371-latest-card-pull-some-interesting-ones.html
That may be the case for your area. But in my area we never had a big bear population. Just seems like im seeing more and more every year.
I know 10 years ago when I finished up college in western MD, they had a fair amount. We'd see them while fishing Deep Creek Lake and occasionally on the side of the road driving back and forth to Wisp. They didn't have much of a season for them then, but the number of tags available for hunters has increased year after year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk www.skyangler.com
