    Hey all,

I was sighting in my bow with my broadheads (fixed and mechanical) and I couldn’t get them to group. I lined up the fixed blades (Muzzy Mx-3’s 100 grain 3 blades) with my vanes and adjusted the rest for them but they wouldn’t group occasionally they would hit where I was aiming but more often then not they wouldn’t. I did the same with my mechanicals (Rage Hypodermics 100 grain) and got the sane thing. I even tried adjusting my sight but that didn’t work. Any tips? I’m shooting Carbon Express Pile Drivers 350 grain arrows with a Pro Defiant.

    Thank you!

I’m not sure how many pound you’re pulling
I had a similar situation to yours
I was shooting 60 pounds with maxima read 350
I could not get a good group
I switch to black eagle outlaw 400
    Never had a problem grouping

Do yourself a favor. Take your bow and go to a proshop with a good reputation for quality service. Make an appointment and spend an hour with them getting your bow tuned and some basic instructions.

I’m pulling 55 lbs and I swung by a bow shop and mentioned what was going on and they’re thought was that the spine is too stiff. The Pile Driver is a dual spine so they recommended either a different arrow or a heavier broadhead. Any tonight’s?

I’ll mage sure to do that. I was also thinking about calling Carbon Express and seeing what broadhead they recommend using with that arrow.

Is your bow tuned and or paper tuned at least?

It’s tuned. I bought it not too long ago and they did it at the shop.

I tested the spine theory and they were right. I had a couple 250 grain arrows that I forgot about (carbon express mayhem). So I put the broadheads on, mechanical and fixed, and they were groupling. So that’s all it was. Trial and error right?
    Thanks for all your help!

Definitely shooting the correct arrow is important, but it's also important to understand that having your bow tuned does not mean your rest is tuned. Look up "walk back tuning" for a start and start there to tune your rest. It will make a huge difference and your broad heads will shoot very similar to your target tips. Good luck.

One thing i've learned over the years is if the Pro shop said it was tuned, its more than likely just the basics and doesnt include your rest etc. As mentioned above, you want to do Walkback tuning to get your reset perfect. Go on youtube and do a search for Walk back tuning or French tuning is another option. Learn this stuff and you will be glad you did when it works.

A number of years ago I bought my first camper. The camper place installed my trailer hitch and set it up for towing. That trailer bucked like a bronco, and swayed terribly. When I got home I took the hitch apart and followed instructions I found on the internet. It was smooth sailing from then on out.
The moral of this story is try it and if its not performing... Do what you have to do to make your bow perform.

Glad you tried different arrows and different spines on your arrows. It's a real difference maker. Tune your bow right, and have the right arrows and you will have tight consistent groups.
The moral of this story is SOMETIMES THE PROFESSIONAL 'AIN'T'...
