Ok, just watched the latest and greatest episode. First thought... bad shot Todd. Second though... **** happens Final thought... your season is actually worse than mine... mine has been crappy. I am SO glad to see someone else with a similar situation, actually it is far worse. Sorry it had to be you, but you made me feel a lot better! Tom
I've actually had that same shot happen, (not proud) but the deer never bleed externally and only made it about 50 yards.
Holy Crap Todd, your misfortune turned into a buck for me tonight!! Thanks. Now, if you could only steal the carbon express hat from Justin and send it my way, that would really be nice! Thanks, Tom
Finally found some time to watch this past episode. Once again gentlemen, my hats off to you on another excellent show!! One of my favorite things about this show is that it shows the TRUTH!!!!! and you guys openly talk about the truth on the show which is AWESOME!! It is a real stand up thing to do to admit possible mistakes or misjudgements made in the field, ANYONE who has put time in the timber over several years will tell you the same thing, no matter how hard you practice, how bad you want it, no matter how long you've been hunting, it happens. There's no lying to the viewers here saying a gut shot was "aw I smoked him" it's real true hunting by people like you and me. It's also very easy as an outsider/critic/pro To sit there and say " I wouldn't take that shot" or "that's a bad shot" etc. etc. BUT ask any war vet/LEO/firefighter/EMT and they will tell you, you do not know how you will respond to a situation UNTIL you are in that very situation. you can say all you want, critique all you want, but when it all boils down, you don't know how you will react until YOU are in the situation. and THAT is why I am proud to say I'm a avid fan and aspiring self filmer wannabe of BOWHUNT OR DIE...because it is as REAL as it gets, like this weeks title aptly says, the good the bad and the ugly! Congrats on a great buck Todd, and to the staff congrats on a great show! Joe
It happens. It happened to me last year. I have a pic somewhere that my old Cuddeback took right after I shot the deer. He went about 40 yards and fell over.
Another great episode guys. Todd I feel your pain this year. I have had one shooter in bow range this year and have probably had 30 days on stand. Frustrated is an understatement. Seen plenty of 1 1/2 year old bucks so I keep telling myself next year will be better but man it doesn't do a lot to comfort the soul now. Congrats on a great deer and another great show.
Awesome episode guys. The rain can really rain on your parade if it comes down when your trailing a deer. It reminds me of last year when I lost a good buck because of the rain. I had a good blood trail to follow for about 80 yards, and then it suddenly dried up in some thick brush. I was on my hands and knees looking for a speck of blood to point me in the right direction when it started raining. I switched to a grid search, but didn't locate the deer that day. I finally found it, a 9-pointer, a week later. Seeing that large-bodied buck just rotting away was very depressing.
