not quite ready but good enough to show

    For Mr. Russ,

I hope this brings a little happiness into your world. I'm off to help my terminally ill cancer friend kill his speed goat (gone tomorrow and Sunday). But, before I leave, I want to share the surprise I've been busily crafting.

Russ, don't tell the lads what it is! Let's make them guess...it's part of becoming worldly!

    Jeff,

Yes, it is a deer, but no, it is not a red stag. This particular deer is one which can be found on every huntable continent. Australians find this deer to be great sport.

No goat this weekend. We sure tried hard-antelope are tough to get with a bow, any bow.

Will, that's some incredible talent you have!

This thread has me wanting to go trad more than ever now.

Jeff, that is a fine looking bow!

Will, I'm glad you told me to check out this thread. I've had fun reading it.

I hope to meet the rest of you one day, maybe I'll have the training wheels off my bow by then. :D

I just got them fitted and installed this morning. Since I haven't got a lathe anymore and I'm too impatient for the file, I molded a plastic flatwasher to the bottom with MarineTex allowing proper spacing to index the heads when tight. (I used case lube as a release agent, if you do this, don't forget that stuff or it won't be a takedown anymore!)

Thanks again Will! They certainly add a touch of class that I don't deserve.

    Guys and gals
I just read through this whole thread and must say it is Inspiring the camaraderie and friendship you all have! I must say it is a bit Awe Inspiring. The Limb bolt covers are jaw dropping, and the bows are Living art. Every year ,since i was a knee high to a whitetail, when my father and I are readying ourselves for the oncoming steel head runs and the clients that come with, and the upcoming hunting seasons, My Dad tells me a little about everything we have. Almost every piece of gear and box has a story, especially the ones handed down to me. Every time he pulls out something, A rusted Streamer, A Bamboo rod, a Flannel, or a pocket knife, even some of the wooden boxes they are stored in! He tells me of the wonderful people in his life that he loves dearly and how its one of his favorite times of the year, just to reflect on these times.
What you are doing here is something so special, and every time you look at something from this exchange, I hope wonderful memories move through your head like Snow clouds through the Ohio Sky. This is so neat to see this going on, I really am glad I get to associate with people like you, both in person and on the internet. Its a blessing
If you wish to hear a song my dad wrote about this very phenomina, he has one about a sweater my mom knitted for him before i was born, it barely fits, and isnt exactly stlyish, but every time my dad needs to feel warm and relaxed, you can find him in it. Its called "Wrapped inside your love" www.madewellmusic.com Pretty sure its for free on there.
Thank you so much for Keeping tradition and memories alive guys. I hope your friendships are a bond that goes unbroken for many years to come
    Blessing
    Phil

Looks great. I cant think of the custom bowyer right now, but that is his trademark to all his takedowns. I love the look.
